Since it has been like monsoon season and the tropics, I decided what the heck. I will experiment. The Obedience plant (False Dragonhead) suddenly spread a lot. It was taking over a Asiatic Lily and going in to the Bleeding Heart. So I chopped a section out, it came out in a nice clump without disturbing too much soil. Gave it a new home behind the hosta bed, to create shade in late afternoon for hostas. Then I decided to move a hosta. OMG, nearly 2 1/2 feet tall, I felt like I was battling the jungle. I got a nice clump out of there too with lots of dirt attached. It is a Blue Angel. Need to move more, but will wait and see how this one does. If it doesn't work, well, there's plenty more where that one came from!

I need to thin out some ferns next spring. They are taking over the garden out front. The Bee Balm needs thinning too but won't do that till it's done blooming. The hummers love it.

The bindweed is loving the rain, about 4 times the usual shoots are up in the tom bed this am!!! It's a bit sobering really - if I was distracted for a week or two, or something - it would take over an pull those tomato plants down in no time. I had always thought once I got good, and prepped and mulched, etc. it would be easier..... not so much! but today is relatively cool and dry after the sweat festival yesterday. no humidity, and no rain forecast! My tropical experiment was transplanting some lemon grass outside yesterday, so the cool isn't going to be a boon for that one! I experimented this year by rooting a bunch I bought at the korean grocery store. The only think I seem to get too much of is the very common ditch lilly. I do have one strange type of phlox that is spreading like wildfire after being divided 2 years ago. So far - no point in corraling it as I have nothing else to put in those areas, but some day, I'll need to re-balance. I think it's a phlox, the head is like a cone rather than a loose bunch of flowers, just googled it up and can't find it.

I think it is a few weeks or even month before they bloom, I'll do a pic then. Not sure if just the foliage would say anything?

So the plants I moved yesterday seem to be doing well. The hosta looks like it wasn't even moved. Despite all the rain, I gave it a drink anyway. The Obedience plant looks good too, gave it a drink. The fact they both had plenty of moisture in them when I dug them up is probably a good thing.
