I must share a pic of this every year, because I love this plant. 3 blooms, one fully open and 2 trying.
What houseplants do you set out for the summer at your house?
This plant cannot stand one drop of sun, just shade.

I always love seeing that plant, LA. I love the color.
I only have one plant that I winter in the house and set out for the summer- a geranium that is a rare color, sort of a magenta,

Shade and they love humidity. Have a couple planted around the papaya and tree fern. Under rated plant I think.

Never heard of this plant but it is a pretty color. I have several abutilon plants of various color flowers that I usually put outside. and I will get it out there but presently there is no table to set them on at this point. It's in my garage. But I will be having a drip edge put in along the garage where the table will be. Hummingbirds love these flowers and the plants need hardening off. Also have a christmas cactus and forgot the name of this plant that stay inside. I tried putting the plant outside and it wilted within a couple hours so I rushed it back inside.

I have a new seedling in the pot. I have been using seamate fertilizer on this plant. It gets VERY little light in the winter here. roxy and Latitude33 probably grows these outside in the yard?

I think Mumsey is correct. That's what I was gonna say. I think they're a popular plant for a gift for someone who has had a loss. I remember my next door neighbor received a couple of them when her husband passed away many years ago.

I think itt is a lily but it is strictly for inside. Sun wilts it in short order. They sell them all over the place here. I don't go out shopping too often but I will see what they call it.

Yes, strictly indoor with little or no sun, great for low light situations. They will bloom a pretty white spike thing.

That red flowering plant is a maple leaf flowering plant. It is not a rose of sharon. I have had several of various colors. Another name for it is abutilon. I have bought through online suppliers. You may have to look through a few to get the color you want. Below is a website to view care: www.guide-to-houseplants.com/flowering-maple.html
