Beautiful butterflies, david...blue ones so unique... Not nearly as good photos as you've got. Swallowtail are such amazing butterflies really. They're the one butterfly that is most common in my garden as well

I always have phone in my pocket in the garden. Maybe when I retire I will be able to capture more of nature's wonders!
Thanks for sharing the great pics!

Thanks for all the info guys. My garden seems to be butterfly haven there are always so many. Of course this is in part because I don't use chemicals. I do plant milkweed and used to have lots of monarch but last year there were none . This year I did see one but no babies as yet. I also love the humming bird bees and the actual humming birds. The birds are funny they go to the back yard and then fly over the roof to the front garden.

Pleased to share we have multiple gardeners that have planted native milkweed and set up structure for Monarchs in the CG.

Have only seen a couple swallowtails this year, few monarchs, many painted ladies.

Have only seen a couple swallowtails this year, few monarchs, We had a herd of them come through one day last week. It was really windy that day and they settled into our crab tree. I figured they needed a rest and with the wind were probably burning up more energy than what they could take in. They were gone early the next morning.

Just saw a newly-emerged Eastern Tiger Swallowtail under the tulip poplars and black cherry trees, filling its wings out. Looked half-size, but in a little while will be in full glory.

Saw three Pipevine Swallowtails. One puddling on fresh dog poop. Whatever works for them, they sure are beautiful. Tigers, Painted Lady's and skippers abound.

I saw one yesterday, but can't remember for sure where it was. I think it was resting on one of the violets, which are prolific this year. Or it might have been on one of the Siberian Squills, which are even more prolific and carpeting the lawn with their lovely lilac and deep blue flowers.

Ellie was chasing a white butterfly today while I was gardening. She's old enough this year to start really appreciating the outdoors.

I'm trying the hang-the-old-banana trick, to see if the butterflies are attracted.

Well, looks like the birds got to the hanging banana. Try again. Saw a couple more Pipevine Swallowtails. Gee whiz, they are beautiful.
