I only have one that made it through sprouting and to seedling stage. I didn't see my favorite in any garden starts or seeds locally that I've visited, though I did look....I will need to order more seeds for next year.
So - I need to be really careful with my only baby here....
I think temps below 60 are not good for eggplants?
In our 10 day forecast, there are 3-4 nights that dip below 60, I think the lowest is 50, and my yard is pretty protected. All the other nights stay above that 60 mark.
Should I plant out with maybe a gallon jug for protection? I'm thinking of ringing the plant with some type of brick or stone to intensify heat throughout the season, because I know eggplants can take it even if it gets to be 100.
So ring and a jug and plant out? or wait out the current 10 day and plant in June? Overall - the 10 forecast is very favorable for the warm season plants. Highs at 70's to 80's, 2 days at about 60.

Are these babies or toddlers?
A jug should be fine.
Flee beetles will be a bigger problem than the temps at night. Trust me on that.

If the soil temperature allows, transplant your eggplant, water it and place a jug on top. It should be fine.

I don't grow eggplant, though a lot pf people do around here.
And our summer nights are always in the mid 50's range!

I hardened mine off when I was hardening off my toms and peps on the front porch. I planted my eggplants in the garden about 2 weeks ago and we had 2 nights last week that went down to 40 degrees. Eggplants are not really growing but they look fine.

The will be fine with jugs, surround those with grass and/or leaves. That will hold some heat in. We dipped to 30's a few nights in a row and mine are all doing great now.
