Hi all, We have recently moved into a house and have a lovely apple tree out front that is now full of apples, however some of the leaves are curled, have red veins and look a bit burnt. I had a look and it seems it could either be over watering, under watering or some sort of bacteria! I haven't watered the tree this year. We have had a reasonable amount of rain, so it may be overwatering as i believe Winnipeg has quite clay soil, though i haven't investigated. Has anyone had any experience with this? I have added some pics below. Thanks! Ian

Welcome winnipeggardener, ! That looks to me like a disease issue rater than water issue. Looks like it could be fire blight. Is this damage concentrated more on the newer shoots? How big is the tree? Does it seem to be a younger tree or an older one? Were you heavy on nitrogen feed in the spring? You can prune out the damaged parts , being very careful to not contaminate other branches with your pruner or saw, by sanitizing the blade between each cut. And cut at least 6 inches past the infection. Pruning will promote new growth so keep an eye on those new shoots since they will be more susceptible to reinfection.
