I’m considering trying these repeller stakes in the veggie garden alleyways. Anybody have experience using them?

Years ago I tried gopher stakes, battery powered, that were supposed to repel gophers. They were about 16 inches long, and proved to be worthless. I didn't notice much difference, but someone ran some tests or something, and other than costing money, they did nothing after the animals got used to the sound or vibration or whatever was supposed to work. Maybe they work for moles, but I'd certainly wait for verification from others that they actually do work.

I’ve bought these off Amazon a few times. There are many different brands and quality is highly variable. They do appear to repel moles, but you need a lot of them because each one only covers a small area. Also annoying to listen to and more annoying to mow around, I’ve destroyed quite a few with lawn mower

Worthless. I have used Molemax with good results, it is a castor oil-based product.

I have a major vole problem and have had very little luck with castor oil, coyote urine etc... trying my best not to kill the buggers but it is frustrating at times.

martywny, do you use Molemax in your veggie garden? Sorry, I may have asked you this previously.

I will never understand why folks hate moles so much. They are insectivorous & eat a LOT of nasty grubs (think Japanese beetle larvae, etc., etc.). They do not eat any plant matter. If you're worried about mice &/or voles using mole tunnels to access plant roots, just gently press the mole tunnels down (first making sure the poor mole isn't in 'em - lol!). Unless you're running a golf course, there's really no reason to persecute them.

breezygardener, I walk with two canes…if my cane lands on a tunnel, I could easily fall.

Well, that's a different situation, but apart from poison (not a good idea), you're still going to have a difficult time eradicating them. Unfortunately, the vast majority of people who kill moles aren't walking with two canes - they're just arbitrarily killing them because they don't like the bumps/lumps in their lawns.

And breezygardener, I don’t hate moles, but navigating between the raised beds is like walking on freshly tilled ground. It’s a safety issue.

martywny, last year, I stocked up on Molemax @ $10.99/10 pound bag. Wish I’d purchased a few more. Yesterday, the sale price (same store, but in a new and larger location) was $17.99.

Moles! I see new foraging tunnels pop up every day now! I got one of those mole traps, but then I learned that you need to find the tunnels they live in. The foraging tunnels are visited once and never again. They are a moving target! I can't seem to find where they are living.
I will NOT use anything that poisons them because then the raptors will eat them and get poisoned! We have hawks and turkey vultures here.
Contrary to popular belief, getting rid of grubs will not get rid of moles. They mostly eat earthworms.

update…. I purchased the 8 pack of the mole repellers. I’ve had mole activity at the SW and SE corner of our house, right next to the foundation. Since I placed the units in those spots, the activity has stopped.
One placed at the corner of the garden shed…activity has stopped.
Five of our ten raised beds each has one of the units. Since about a week to ten days since they were put in place, I’ve not seen any new tunneling in the alleyways.
The change in activity might be attributable to more foot traffic in the garden alleyways or the life cycle of a mole. In the meantime, I’ll be keeping my mole trap.
