The delphiniums that were gifted to me as potted plants have finally given up. I want to replace them. Has anyone grown delphs from seed? I'm reading conflicting info on how to start them.

Many years ago… I seem to remember planting the seed in a small pot, bagging it, and keeping it in the fridge for what seemed like a long time…maybe 6 weeks?
I think I still have a survivor from that, and today I saw that it has a new leaf. It is planted against the east foundation of the barn, so it’s protected from harsh weather.
I did buy seeds this year, but they aren’t planted yet.

desertwoman, They are a short lived perennial, 3-5 years. Same with Lupines, planted some from seed 4 years ago, I see it coming up this year. Nice surprise!
