As much as we love our Josie, and shower her with treats and toys, I don’t believe she would think anymore of us if we were to take her out for fine dining.

Sounds about right for San Fransisco, dogs dine in restaurants while people poop on the sidewalks. Upside down world.

Not that we do it often, but we treat ourselves to a $75+ each meal once or twice a year. We both really appreciate fine cuisine and a meal like that can be an awesome experience.
However... a dog will not be able to discern filet mignon from ground beef or carefully prepared dishes from a quickly prepped one and will chow it down in seconds. And though a diet low in carbs can be beneficial there are far cheaper/less time consuming ways to prepare healthy food for dogs and cats. We make homemade cat food for Ellie (with the blessings from vets). All our cats have lived very long lives, disease free, dying from old age. We make about 5 weeks worth of high quality organic food for Ellie currently for about $45. (fed twice a day) For me, this doggie restaurant falls into the category of what I call-some people just have too much money.

My take is this: people do it to make themselves feel good and truly believe dogs are near human!

It’s not uncommon, when visiting the seasonal soft serve ice cream place, to see folks arrive with the family dog. The dog gets his/her own ice cream cone. Dining is outside on the patio…no inside seating.

Jesse gets Cheerios, liver treats, leftover bits of meat, cheese and peanuts. I am not sure I would spend that much for myself. I have made my own concoction of of foods for the dog to add into her regular food, usually organic meat and vegetables, some I have grown here.

Our dog would have a complete meltdown. But she has nothing to complain about. She gets handouts from every lunch & dinner we enjoy, so long as it's something that's safe for her. In addition, we often purchase good sale deals on meat that we cook up just to top her dog-food dinners.

I would certainly never pay that much for a meal for a pet (not even for a cat), but this restaurant is a business based on an odd premise (like the Cardiac Grill in Vegas). They buy supplies, employ people and pay taxes. And they currently are getting a lot of nationwide free publicity. Most people likely going there to dine - humans plus their dogs - are probably going as a source of entertainment, a day out, not solely for the hoity-toity dog food. If I were in the area, I'd probably walk by for a look-see. I wonder if one needs to have a dog to order something, lol. People do all sorts of crazy things with their time and money. This one seems rather benign compared to many other ways people waste big money. And of course, it is the West Coast. Eccentrics are often more tolerated here.
