I’ve been interested in an electric pressure canner. Not interested enough to purchase one, just interested. When searching on Amazon, I found our All American 21.5 qt. canner now selling for $420. We’ve had our canner since before 1976, and guessing that hubby paid about $75 for it. No wonder that Amazon has a payment plan.
I’m not planning to get rid of our canner, but it’s always good to know the value of something.

Yes, it was a lot of money. And we were living on one paycheck. That canner made the most wonderful canned beef/canned pork. I made canned beef gravy over biscuits…absolute comfort food on a cold winter evening.

I found our All American 21.5 qt. canner now selling for $420. I bought the same one in 2017 and it was $216.95, so price has almost doubled in five years. At that price it was worth it, but if I needed to buy one today, forget it. There are some used ones on sale on e-bay for near what I payed for mine.

My husband thought I was nuts when I gave $50 for my All-American 925 at a flea market until I showed him the retail price.

emmsmommy, was the canner ready to use, or did it need repairs? I really like the “no gasket” feature.

How can those things have no gasket?

How can those things have no gasket? They have a whole different system. The pot and lid have beveled edges that fit tightly together and are held by special wing nuts on clamp bolts. I've had mine since 2017 and never had a leak. You can see how it is put together in this video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6P1sYZzb3M

emmsmommy, you got a great deal! I paid $100 for a 925 two years ago from a guy I know. Had it checked out by the county extension and it checked out fine. Now hopefully sweetheart, who hopefully won’t be under a doctors care, and I will be using it next year.

binnylou, I did upgrade the pressure gauge to the newer style but it was ready to use when I bought it and even came with the manual, jar lifter, canning funnel and apron tucked inside. Mom's been using it for the last few years since we've had trouble finding a replacement gasket for her older one. centralilrookie, I think sweetheart will love it.
