I have some tulips up now, I checked my notes and they came up a week earlier than the previous years. I also planted some new tulips and hyacinths in pots last fall so waiting for those to come up. Heard new plantings can emerge a little later than the established plants.

A bit of a surprise yesterday as I noticed the tete a tete daffodils that kiddo and I planted a few years ago are putting on a show! Must get more of them as the bigger daffodils are just starting to bud.

I have lots of clumps of daffodils, most have flower buds, but the buds are very close to the soil surface. Might this be a moisture issue? I don’t recall ever seeing the bud almost resting on the ground.

My daffodils had flower buds a ways back in February, but they still haven't opened. I see they didn't open until 3-23 last year, so there's still a while to go for that, but I thought those days well into the 60s would get them sooner. But what do I know about flowers?

Had to laugh at the spring bulb display at Costco. Yes they bloom in the spring, but you need to plant them in the fall. They also had "Fragrant rose collection" of two plants sold together in a package for $15. Nice looking plants, but when I looked them up, most had a light or mild fragrance. When I buy a rose, I want it to smell like rose, especially if it is labeled fragrant.

Had to laugh at the spring bulb display at Costco. One thing I must say about Costco's bareroot plants - never underestimate them. Last year Mr. Breezy brought home two bareroot lilacs & 5 bareroot peonies from Costco as part of a Mother's Day surprise (I always get plants for Mother's Day). I potted everything up in large gallon or larger nursery pots & just kept on top of them. By the end of last summer, only one peony & one of the lilacs had sprouted, so I figured this year I'd empty out the rest & use the pots for something else. Well imagine my surprise when just this past week, I noticed that both lilacs were leafing out, & four of the five peonies were now sending up sprouts!! I am so glad I didn't give up on them at the end of last season!

The majority of daffodils are in their full glory right now. No sign of tulip blooms yet but I fear mine are in bad need of division. And as breezygardener said, never underestimate those plants as the majority of my old bleeding heart plants were something I'd brought home from my days working at the daylily farm after I'd been told to empty the pots into the compost pile because they were dead. Still have two left after twenty-some years.

I've planted Costco plants and bulbs before, and they have done well. Was just laughing that the bulbs were being offered in the wrong time of year and at the fragrant rose collection that had rose varieties that had barely detectable scent. May go back and do a search of each cultivar name to see more about them. I only plant fragrant roses. Their price of 2 for $15 is great and they looked in excellent shape.

Some of my daffodils were displaced after the locust trees were uprooted last year. Noticing them popping up here and there and planning to move the ones in the way of the new beds and greenhouse. All of mine are putting on a spectacular display this year. It's been cold, but not enough to stifle the blooms

Second flush of daffodils. These are in the garden and bloom later than the ones on south side of garage. They are shorter than usual, maybe due to drought.

My daffodils with hints of peach and pink are blooming now. They mark the spot where our sweet beagle Sally is buried.
