Driving down the road on the tractor heading to do some mowing I was admiring the clover growing along the road. Then I realized, no bees. I know when I was a kid there were always bees in the flowers, weeds, & clover growing along the roads. Not a good sign.

No toads nor tree frogs to be seen this spring. In previous years, a spell of continuous rainy days would have tree frogs hanging on our patio door. And there’s always a big fat toad in the veggie garden. None yet.

I've noticed very few bees this season, including on my chives and sage blossoms, which are usually covered with them.

I hope this isn't indicating accelerating decline.

I haven't seen bees here, either. And hummers are few and sporadic.

Good to hear, ahntjudy! I'm hoping that it has something to do with that cold May I had, and that they will come around, even if a little late.

I've only seen Carpenter bees & a few Bumblebees, but zero Honeybees so far.
Toads & Grey tree frogs we have aplenty, & once again I am playing caretaker to the same mud puddle as last year, this time full of toad tadpoles instead of last year's Grey tree frogs. And this time we have a new visitor, a young Green frog, who pops his head up every morning when I go out to add more water. A ritual that will continue until the first heavy frost/hard freeze.

Lol I'm not much on snakes either. Once upon a time I lived in a trailer with a door on the outside to the water heater closet. I kept hearing funny sounds so was looking in there trying to figure out what was going on. Saw what I thought was some old wire under it. Then it moved. It was some sort of snake. I went in the garage to look for something to fish it out of there with but I didn't see anything but the wasp & hornet spray that shoots 20 feet. I thought that should do it. Got down level so I could get a good shot & sprayed a healthy dose. Snake came shooting out right at my face. I jumped back, nearly fainted. Almost peed a little.
