I bought a few Cornelian cherry dogwood trees, 5 to be exact. I want to place them a few feet from my fence and make a privacy screen. These are single and double branched trees. I am thinking of putting them about 8 feet apart and trimming the lower branches that might stab into the fence. Has anyone grown dogwood trees before? Is my spacing too crowded? any suggestions ?

I've not grown dogwood trees but usually there are tags with a tree, when you buy them, and they tell you how tall and how wide they will be at maturity.
Just did a quick search and it says they will get 15-20 ft wide so I think your spacing of 8 ft is too close. You'll probably want at least 15 ft spacing, I would think. Crowed trees don't stay as healthy. If you want them closer for the privacy then I would keep them well pruned to manage their size.

Cornelian Cherries are frequently sold as "hedge shrubs/trees", so you might actually get away with or even want the 8-foot spacing.
