More of a concern than a 'peeve'... Helmetless and inappropriately dressed motorcyclists.

What is it about boys/men that they can’t keep their hands away from canning jars that just came from the canner. I’m waiting for the “ping” and hubby is getting his hand entirely too darned close to those jars.
I’m a tad sensitive about the “ping thing”. Years ago, daughter came home bringing current boyfriend. I can’t remember what had just come out of the canner, but he proceeded to count the jars, including a tap on the flats. I could have smacked him. Obviously, his mother didn’t can.

Honey in plastic containers.
I have no problem with the small squeeze bottles being plastic as it's a bit more convenient, but I generally buy honey by the quart and when it crystalizes it's a pain. Usually I immediately transfer it to a glass jar but evidently forgot to do that last time. Grrrr...

emmsmommy, I dislike squeeze bottle anything. I am particularly peeved at Gulden's Mustard changeover to a squeeze bottle from their old efficient, conically shaped jar. That idea was just plain stupid. I now boycott Gulden's. I'm quite sure they could not care less.

ahntjudy, Well we're not mustard fans and I only keep it for deviled eggs and Dijon for honey mustard sauce. However I do like a squeeze bottle for ketchup when it works like it should and doesn't come out like a bowel explosion. Also prefer Hershey's syrup in a squeeze bottle as I remember the sticky mess those cans got to be and how it was so much easier it would have been for me in my childhood to sit in front of the refrigerator and squeeze that sticky overly-sweet goodness into my mouth versus the can. Other stuff I'm not too impressed with in squeeze bottles or the manufacturers choice to abandon glass.

Helmetless and inappropriately dressed motorcyclists. YES!! And people who hit them. DS's friend in Texas was hit by a truck while leaving his work on motorcycle. Hit and run. Thankfully he was wearing helmet, no head trauma, and ended up in a grassy area. Even with helmet he could have been killed, the grassy area saved him. Ended up with crushed shoulder and surgery with major titanium plates. The driver of the truck has not been found.

Today's Pet Peeve is driving past Walmart - on OCTOBER 6th - & seeing the sidewalk in front of the store plastered with inflated Santa Clauses, Snowmen, etc., etc., interspersed with what I guess are now Xmas mums?!? IT'S OCTOBER 6TH PEOPLE. As a friend of mine told me this morning, we should at least be allowed to enjoy all the autumn/Halloween decorations that we've been enjoying since June for a little while longer. . . .

breezygardener, I agree with the Christmas stuff being out way too early. Halloween is my favorite holiday and I usually stretch it to Christmas by having a small tree with creepy ornaments on it.

Another good reason to avoid going to Walmart! Well - apart from my Xmas decoration rant - I actually like our local Walmart a lot. For starters, their prices on a LOT of things we buy regularly are all up to several dollars lower in price than other local markets, & I ain't no Rockefeller. It's frankly not my problem if other stores suffer - it's not my responsibility to pay more for my groceries to support them. And our local Walmart contributes substantially to our community. They donate a LOT of food to the local food pantry & contribute to a lot of local charities. And many of the employees have been there a LONG time - some of them still working there from when we first moved here more than 20 years ago. And - gasp - they're actually happy working there. Go figure. So I'm not among those who consider Walmart a pox on society.

I still go there once in a blue moon for something, but most things I used to get there, like the bread and WW flours, they stopped carrying, in place of stocking things twice the price! There are a number of things like that, that just aren't in the store anymore. And the gardening section is pathetic - I thought more people are getting into gardening since the pandemic, and they would have a better gardening dept., but the two stores near me almost looked like a garden section in January, the few times I went in this year. I hear much better reports about stores all around the country - don't know what it is about my area.

We were in Menards last night and they have all the Christmas decorations up right next to the Halloween and fall decorations. Crazy.
The Walmart nearest me is disgusting. I won't even go in there. If I want to go to a Walmart for something, I'll drive to the one a little further away.
