I found that somebody removed the complete pie section…about 40 pages. So annoying. My favorite pie recipe book is "Pies and Pastries Blue Ribbon Cookbook~Favorite Recipes of Home Economics Teachers". Found it ages ago when I was clearing out the home economics stuff from the former home ec room that had become the biology lab. My copy was finally coming apart, so I just bought a nice used one on line which will eventually be gifted to my youngest daughter. It is divided into categories like chiffon pies or cream pies, so if you have pumpkin you can find pumpkin chiffon or pumpkin cream and so forth. My other favorite is an old Ebony cookbook. Lots of great recipes.

Recipe books can mean so much. I have a Better Homes & Gardens cookbook that was my mother's. My sister and I used to help in making a wonderful, delicious spice cake when we returned home from school. Every time I see that cookbook on my shelves, it reminds me of those precious moments decades ago.
The book is getting raggedy, but I'll keep it forever, and just keep patching it up.

I have a Betty Crocker cookbook from the 1970's that I still use because of a good basic recipes it has. I still have it but found another one in a thrift store as backup. There are a lot of good recipes online now too. But I like to print out recipes, doesn't help if the internet is down and that's where you can find a recipe.

I have a Betty Crocker cookbook from the 1970's that I still use because of a good basic recipes it has. I love my old looseleaf-format Betty Crocker & Pillsbury cookbooks that were gifted to me way back in 1974. Still make some of the recipes, although most have been seriously tweaked to reflect my personal preferences (for garlic & spices, particularly).

Hahaha the 3rd year my raspberry bushes were finally giving me a bounty my sister came over and said,oh raspberries. Of course I said go ahead and pick some and gave her a pound container. Well I guess she was enjoying herself so much that she went into her car and got a quart pitcher and took damn near every berry. Then she called me to say thank you and tell me how delicious they were and it must be wonderful to have them growing right in your own back yard...I wouldn’t know how delicious they were because you took every darned one. Chrickets.

heirloomfan, instead of printing out a recipe, you should be able to save it as a .pdf file and store it into a folder for later use. Then, even if the internet is down, you can still turn on your computer and view it on the desktop.

Jumping through hoops for warranties! GE microwave, less than 6 months old is going to pot. Making intermittent roaring noises, now sounds like popcorn. Probably the magnetron.
So I call them. They won't do service calls on countertop microwaves. They will give a replacement. OK. I had to email receipt, plus REMOVE the sticker from the inside of the microwave, take pictures of both and email them. Then wait for confirmation, which I got and which tells me I have to wait for another confirmation that my refund form (they call it a Goodwill certificate) has been mailed. After I receive the second confirmation, I can go the NEXT day and buy a new one with my own money (that was emphasized), then send in for reimbursement. It has to be as much or more than we paid for the lemon one. I can expect check in 6-8 weeks! Plus it's up to us to SAFELY dispose of the old one. That was emphasized as well. They gave me a link to their employee discount site. Great, most of them are on back order, just how long is that I wonder.
Hope this lemon lasts for a bit longer.

Mumsey If you have to disassemble that MW, like I did that farberware POS that I have, you may need some Torx screwdriver, or a hex wrench to remove screws. Of course they wouldn't put phillips head screws - that would make it too easy! Another thing that is going wrong with this is the LED screen is dying, 2 bulbs so far. I haven't had this happen with anything for many years. And I'm tired of wasting time trying to fix that bulb, as nothing was helpful. It drives me nuts with that flickering light - probably not even the bulb, but if I disconnect it, at least I won't see it. This time, I'll get a young friend to take it down for me!

Grew up on a farm in Eastern Kansas. There were four kids in our family and we always had a large garden, fruit trees, cows and early on even milk cow and chickens. I'm grateful that I learned out to garden and appreciate homegrown food at an early age. Most of us weren't picky about the food because our Mom was a good cook and the homegrown produce was so much more flavorful. We always complained in the winter when the only tomatoes in the store were the pale, hothouse varieties. Our neighborhood was close and we would share or swap produce. Seemed when one person had a lot of sweet corn for example, that a neighbor had lots of strawberries and we could trade. It was not only fun but also allowed you to have more than what you could grow just in your own garden. I think this year with food prices going so high, it might lead to more growing of your own produce and also bartering.

Hope this lemon lasts for a bit longer. This obviously isn't going to help your current situation, but going forward - Panasonic microwaves may very well be your best friend. My parents gifted us with our first one in 1994 & it performed admirably until 2016. Even then it was still working well, but the inside was beginning to peel a bit & I didn't want to continue using it. Our local recycling center took it without any problem. So bought a second Panasonic microwave from Amazon in 2016, & it's - just like the first one - still performing beautifully without so much as a hitch. We love it, & it will be Panasonic microwaves all the way for us.

Then, even if the internet is down, you can still turn on your computer and view it on the desktop. If it's a recipe you use often, I'd definitely print it off. I also try to back up my files on the PC/tablet/phone onto an external hard drive and/or thumb drive. I can't tell you how many times I've lost files due to PC issues and it's nice to know I have another copy.

pepperhead212, Not even going to attempt taking the thing apart, it's still under warranty! So we will muddle through this and if the next one is a lemon we'll just toss it and go with another brand like SpringRain🕊️ suggested. We used to have Kenmore years ago and that thing lasted forever! Don't even know if they make them anymore. Got the confirmation that the Goodwill certificate was mailed yesterday. And we had to wait until the NEXT day to buy/order another one, which is today. That makes no sense. So went to their website and ordered another one. Had to upgrade because the original one cost less on their website than what we paid at Lowes, and we had to spend at least what the old one cost new. The upgrade cost us $30.

Mumsey I thought you had to take it apart to get that label you needed! lol That would have figured in with the way they do things.

pepperhead212. Nope. It was right in front on lower edge. Can’t miss it! They probably want a pic of it OFF the microwave to keep people from selling a broken unit.

Mumsey, we had to do something similar with a recalled dehumidifier. Label had to be removed and stuck to a piece of paper which also had the cut off plug attached to it. Seemed like it took forever, but we finally got our refund.
