Thanks Red! DH is in the process of replace bathroom tub fixtures, what a nightmare. Years ago things were certainly built differently when there were no codes. There weren't even any shut off valves!

Thanks for the link. I don't have a $800 pair of leather shoes but will use some of the tips for my much, much less expensive leather shoes.

Great link! What I want to figure out how to fix is our toilets. Over the years lime has built up and keeps clogging the air holes necessary for a good flush. There has to be a wY to improve flow short of replacing every fixture in the house....I've tried running CLR thru, vinegar...not much of an improvement...

claude - yes that lime build up. I run a humidifier in the winter. over the years, I have gone from an actual humidifier that you buy for that, to a second hand store/garage sale crock pot, no lid, on high, filled with water... b e c a u s e of that build up. this way I just get a new one every other year - do you have a rebate perhaps from your water works provider? that sometimes you can get new low flow fixtures and they're covered under rebate? is it the plumbing pipes or the fixture?? what a drag...

Not a fixing thing but I made dining room curtains out of painters drop cloth from Home Depot. I saw them on Pinterest and let me tell you that I just love them. And so cheap at $12 a panel. They look like linen and I would post a picture but it's almost impossible to get a good picture with the window in the background.

maybe you can take a pic with the curtains closed? sounds like the fabric is so dense that it will block out a good bit of light too... reminds me of hotel curtains - hehe
