Got my sweet corn planted yesterday! Good thing since it has rained most of today and that is our forecast for the rest of the week too!
Doesn't look like I'll get much done outside this week! Darn! My list seems to be getting longer not shorter!

At least a month ahead of me! I may plant some early stuff in about 3 weeks, but will plant the most of it in late May.

Got my sweet corn planted yesterday My direct seeded broccoli just poked through..... I do have some corn but am hesitant about it attracting too much attention from raccoons and squirrels...

Tbird, I've never had squirrels bother mine, just the coons once the ears start filling out....and I'm talking about up in central Ill. Dogs & cats are wonderful deterrents for those critters though. We used to be over-run with squirrels but they have taken to another area most of the time now due to our outdoor cats.
Now I'm just hoping that my seeds don't rot since we have had rain for the last 2 days (raining now) and it's predicted for the rest of the week too! I need some warm sun for those seeds to pop up!

Oh goody Karen,
We can compare.
I started my corn seeds in my 72 cell trays last night. They are on the heat.
I'm doing 71 day Bon Appetit and 84 day incredible on this round.
Maybe I will be picking corn when you Georgia people are!
What did you stick in the ground?

LA, it was Illini Xtra Sweet! I used to grow Illini Super Sweet up in Ill. but they don't have those seeds any more. It was sweeter 24 hrs. AFTER you picked it than it was WHEN you picked it....loved that stuff! I'm just hoping I get corn a bit taller than 4' this year and maybe some ears longer than 2-3"! Last year I didn't have a whole lot in that soil, so it didn't do all that good. This year there is compost in there....so hoping!
