I've been growing Amaryllis for many years; successfully except for episodes of my own neglect. Last year I purchased what turned out to be an absolutely spectacular "Piccaso" variety that sent up multiple bloom stalks, even one from what it is obviously an adjoining baby bulb. So I've been watering it & watching the huge leaves grow, looking for the inevitable yellowing/browning that indicates the bulb is about to go into dormancy. So, one long leaf yellowed, & I began reducing watering, & guess what? Today there's a definite large bloom scape sprouting!! I've never had this happen before - have always lulled my Amaryllis bulbs into dormancy, let them rest for 6-8 weeks, & then brought them back into bloom.
I know that there are evergreen Amaryllis varieties, but this is not one of them. Has anyone ever had this happen before? At this point I guess I'm going to skip dormancy & just start watering regularly & feeding again.

My oddball reblooming "Piccaso" amaryllis began blooming this week - 4 blossoms open & one bud on the way. Flowers aren't as large as last December, but still very pretty. Plus there are also two "pups" in the pot with it that I had been hoping to separate from "mom" & pot up separately, but guess that's going to have to wait until next year now. I was hoping to have this blooming for Xmas, but guess that's a miss this year as well. First time I've ever had an Amaryllis completely skip dormancy.
