I planted cosmos outside direct seeding, no signs yets. calendulas in a flat outside, no sign yet....
Inside, pinks, alyssum, and asters in flats. The alyssums are popping up all over (3 flats, 2 containers) the pinks are coming up. no aster action yet.
need to get some lobelia going, and going to look through my packets and pick out some other flowers....is it too late to start petunias?
What is you flower status? What are you planting and what are you seeing?
I am getting close to capacity on what I can handle, lol!

I direct seeded: forget-me-not and they came up right away, as did the poppy from the bulk bins (wonder what it looks like), I put something down the middle of that like a snap dragon kinda, and lobelia down the edge to drape. this is in the 6" x 30" window box planter. I haven't looked to see if the last 2 are up, that was last weekend I think. we've had perfect spring weather, some warm, some sun, some ran, some cool...

Thanx T-bird.
I still don't like the "auto quote" selected for here.

coppice- you've got the quick quote part down, I can see. All you need to do is type in your response under all the gibberish and text that shows up in the *quick reply* space (just under the last repose in the thread).

I am a zinnia person. I don't see any of the self seeds up but I have 3 varieties in flats to go out. Snapdragons are planted out a couple of weeks. Maybe 6 inches tall. I have some cosmos in a 6 pack ready to go out. Getting spindly. Right now outside the violets are lovely. As is the vinca. Pansies go in in the fall and are blooming their hearts out. I got a new kind that I put in a pot called Wave Pansy. We will see how those are going to do. Peonies are about 12 inches tall. Seeded some Cleome which I used to have wild at the old house but here I have not been able to get it going.

Lobelia, babies breath, French tall marigolds, nicotiana, borage, salsify, zinnias, Cosmos, Mexican sunflowers, are all started in whatever containers I could find..lettuce and strawberry boxes, milk jugs. I ran out! Horrors! Still to get planted: Irish moss, creeping thyme (Ty DW) black tiger lilies (Ty Ga) begonia tubers, Stella door day lilies, I am frustrated about not being able to master the photo posting from an iPad ...and it's probably something dumb. It's still too cold to plant out anything because it will freeze.

What is your set up indoors for all that claude?
I have some mexican sunflower seeds too! but don't know where I would plant them... do their seeds attract any pest? squirrel, racoon?
I direct seeded some of the coneflower seeds outside, did one small container leaving outside too. Those seeds should be okay...
I think everything else is going to have to manana

I just have 2 four ft lights over a shelving unit...it's crowded but ok. I should be able to move out the Brussels sprouts and cabbages on Sunday if I can get some fencing to hold up the frc...I just use and reuse pots, planting trays a bunch of stuff. The tomatoes are in their own pots now..just started fertilizing them today.

As long as it stays above 40º you should be fine.
My larkspur are starting to bloom, mop head poppies up about 2 1/2', volunteer zinnias are coming up. I don't remember everything I have planted in the garden house, but some of those haven't come up so I'll be replanting the ones I still have seeds for. My hyacinth bean vines need to be planted out...they are close to 3' long already. There are several other things that need to go out NOW, but it's raining!
I bought some sunpatiens for my pots by the birdbath...they have been out there for over a week now....and blooming. My snapdragons and pansies will be dying off soon, they are winter flowers here. Some of my roses are starting to bloom too and the red hot pokers are starting to go crazy...one group has 11 bloom stalks up & starting to bloom.
The little weigela starts I planted last year are full of blooms...go figure....the big ones I took those cuttings from are hardly blooming at all this year!

Someone gave hubby a qt size zip lock bag of zinnia seed. Way more than I can use. Hubby isn't a gardener so didn't ask things like "what color are they?" "how tall do they get?"
If anyone wants a surprise, I'm happy to share.

IDE love a surprize! third, mex sunflowers don't seem to attract pests. They are more like a multi stemmed flower 5' tall..daisy like. the birds love them. Idk if they have the same effect on the soil and what you try to plant after them like regular sunflowers do..I just always plant them in the same spot anyway. Allopathic ..other new seed will struggle to sprout in the same spot. All the bird seed that sprouted beneath my bird feeders doesn't anymore, except for a straggler or two since I just feed sunflower seed.
