Already did that and am just waiting for them to germinate!

Thanks, grid. I always had put the inoculant right in the ground but this way may work out better.

I picked up some generic pea and bean innoculant at home depot last I was there....since it was just sitting there for 2-3 bucks....
but my peas are already started....should I sprinkle on the ground and water in?

I would since it's a bacterium with a shelf life. It may be dead and useless by next year.
I saw some that was expired in Dec 2014 at the local Agway store 2 months ago so they let me take 5 bags of it for free! I used 4 of them and am saving one for Fall peas.

That plan works for me too, grid! On Step 3, I just drain the soaking water out, sprinkle innoculant on all the wet seeds, and roll them around in the container. My personal Step 4 is to neglect to set up the trellis until after they're up and going. I'm trellising 4-5" vines with tendrils today. B-|

What works for me is to wrap in wet paper towels and wait until they are almost sprouted. That helps, but what is really important is 50 degree soil temperature. Before that, they are just going to rot in the ground for me.

And I've never done that with any pea seeds no matter the variety. I just dig a furrow about 2" deep, put 2 pea seeds about every 3", cover and they grow. Seldom do I have any problems with germination.

We do the soaking here in the East because we plant the seeds in cold soil and we need them to germinate as fast as possible to avoid rot. Some people buy seeds of peas and corn treated with fungicide to avoid this but I don't.
I don't usually use inoculant either but it was free. It does not help germination but is supposed to provide symbiotic organisms to the roots and help them to "fix" nitrogen sooner and grown better.
After saying all of that - my peas are STILL not up! I planted them 11 days ago.

You might have to replant brown...they should be up.

LA said that hers took 10 days so I still have hope. I would have thought that at least ONE plant would be up even if some seeds had rotted but I am seeing nothing. I may dig a little later today and see if I see anything.

I don't use inoculate or treated seeds either. I just put them in and hope for the best. They almost always do fine.
They took a little longer than usual to come up this year (seems to be the theme for me this season). A few popped out but there were many gaps and I thought "oh well" but in the past couple of days the rest finally popped up.

I saw a difference in the number of beans when I used the inoculant from when I didn't. I use it all the time now.

I only use it when I'm growing the peas and beans in a new bed..I find that it helps establish quicker...but if you're growing in the same bed, I don't bother.

Hey Rexx,
Maybe plant just a few more as a hedge against them not coming through. Then - if they still don't come, plant a few more and they'll be a bit staggered...at least you won't be waiting for godot...
