A week ago, Sunday, my grand-kids found a kitten wrapped in a wet tee shirt, lying immobilized in the hot sun. It must have been kids, because they left food and water, but didn't realize the kitten couldn't move. My daughter thought it was dead until it moved its tail. They brought it to me. Its eyes were crusted shut and mouth was frothy. Managed to give it a syringe full of water. The 24 hour animal hospital told me to take it to the city shelter as they would care for it and have a high placement rate. The vet at the shelter told me that they closed at six, but there was no way to get there in time, so off to the emergency hospital. While it was inside, the vet called and said that it would be best to keep it overnight on IV fluids and antibiotics, as it was dehydrated, had a virus common in feral kittens and an upper respiratory and eye infections. After a pause while I was thinking, he said since I had experience I could take it home right then after he gave sub-cu fluids (injected under the skin to be absorbed) and an antibiotic injection. Had to give him oral antibiotics, eye drops and expensive canned recovery food mixed with water. The vet tech gave me a can. Three hundred and twenty five dollars later, I had a very sick kitten, but pulled it through. It is now 10 weeks old, running, playing, purring and cuddling. Now I have to decide whether to keep him or find a home, because once we find a name that's it. Always wanted a lap cat. After my daughter unwrapped him. Off to the vet. Recovering Looking innocent.

gardendmpls, what a find by your grandkids! How lucky is that cat. Cried while reading story but delighted by the outcome whether you keep or find home but I guess I see it as destiny. And a beautiful face!

Such a cute little guy! I so much wanted to keep the kittens I helped my neighbor rescue last week but resisted. They went to their foster home on Monday.

Thank you for fostering the little dude and if I was closer, it would be a foster failure. Love the markings. What an adorable kitten.

Love the face! Is it a boy or girl? I'd be calling it Sweet Pea.

His name is Charlie, as my daughter says he looks like he has a Charlie Chaplin mustache that's gone askew. Right now he's purring up a storm and attempting to walk all over the keyboard. Full of energy now. played chase the dragonfly on a stick and string for over an hour last night, until got tired and went to sleep- that was me, he was still jumping on and off the bed.

Charlie is lucky! Will you be able to part with him to a forever home?

Once they get a name, they stay here. I used to foster a lot of kittens in the neighborhood and find them homes. Stopped when I ran out of friends who wanted kittens.

He's doing great. Had him treated last week for mites, worms and the usual. Meanwhile, my daughter and I got ringworm on out necks, arms and legs. Asked the vet to check for that too. The fungus fluoresces under light. Turns out he has the smallest patch on his nose, which he was rubbing against us every time we cuddled. The dermatologists don't have any appointments open until the end of August, so using over the counter treatments. Would be easier if we went to the vet ourselves.

gardendmpls, I would think a family physician could treat that instead of having to wait an entire month! Ringworm is not hard to diagnose.

Daughter was delegated to contact our regular doctor. May be able to send picture and get prescription. Mine is mostly gone, but my daughter's is still not cleared up. Grandson got a prescription from his pediatrician and his cleared up quickly. Charlie is doing fine.
