44 and sunshine this morning. Doesn't feel like it will warm up though. It has been a strange season here. No snow since January 1. Bare ground all winter seems strange for these parts. Yet it has been so cold that not even the grass is growing yet. Too early to plant much here, though I did put in some spinach, lettuce and carrot seeds. The spinach is just barely emerging now. Have not seen the others yet. I planted some tomato seeds in a shed with a South facing window and some came up, but they are not growing. Too cool.
I guess its exercise patience............... ?

We are so dry, I have been watering soaking cardboard, and laying down mulch, have not quite half of my garden mulched. I have watered the soil quite a bit in doing so. That cardboard and mulch might slow down the warming up of the soil, but really, I think it will pay off in moisture retention.
We are Very dry!

MrsK - We've been hearing about the California drought - is that same weather forecast/system/?? affecting you across all those states?
Or have you always been rather dry?
WU says we got 1.4 inches on Thursday - most things still running off of that.

It has been cool and dry here. The grass has not even greened up yet. I do have some tomato plants started from seed growing out in my shed. I planted a few more seeds yesterday. The dandelions are just starting to bloom so the bees have some flowers to visit. The apricots bloomed, but its been so cold the fruit will likely all drop. The apples have not bloomed yet. They are close. My irrigation water comes from the storage of the Porcupine Reservoir. It is not quite full yet, but I think it will fill. If it fills I have my summers water OK. In this dry country, we depend on winter snows to fill the reservoir. We could not grow much with what rainfall we get in summer. If that were our only option, we would just grow dust. Thank goodness for irrigation.

Wow, James. first snow since January 1! As much as you need it, it must be hard to have it, while gearing up for spring planting.

April, wind, cold, snow, and wildfires....... must be Utah? Well, there is water in that snow, and we need water. I did get some onion starts in a week ago. Its a little early to plant much here yet except for maybe spinach. It will work out. Add a photo:

Things are greening up. Today we are getting a bit of rain. That should get things growing? Some of the seeds I planted are just coming up. img src=" " style="max-width:100%;"] Bee Pasture
