I went over to my friends house yester, and she had this in her garden! Oh my goodness - was was thoroughly impressed! She said her SISTER made it
I said: where does she live - she said (a city about an hour away), I said: does she need a massage!? hahahahha meaning; would she make me one for enough massages?? she just smiled and said 'probably'... I'm going to be working on this opportunity!
This friend is about 5' 2" just to give you an idea. She's going to fill it with dirt all the way thru the middle and plant! So cool looking, I had to share

Yeah - I think I'd like something similar - but maybe less pyramid shape, more square, as the 4 corners of a potage, Say - about 3-4' high, at the corner of the border raised beds, with fencing going off of them.
they look ideal for strawberries, then on another you could have early greens and lettuces. they would get the sun sooner in the day/later at night and warm up more quickly while providing a lot of room for more plants...

I think there might be difficult to water well, and with that dirt exposed to the air all around, it might dry out quickly. Might need soaker hose?

That is a beautiful planter! Lots of detail work, too.
Red and Lat, if you don't get plans, post again as I'm positive I've seen plans for a similar planter in one of my gardening magazines, and what a perfect excuse to get them out and go through them again! Seriously, I think Fine Gardening may have had some plans.
Red, do you know what kind of wood she used, and if she had to preserve it? I'm assuming she used cedar?
I think your friend's sister has a future as a master carpenter, if she isn't one already1

she used cedar, don't know what she does or did for a living or carpenter status.
would be cool to put it on a turntable of sorts, so you could turn it for sun or shade as needed -
my oh my, aren't we creative
