Noticed some hostas are starting to grow, pretty early this year. Garlic is pushing through the mulch, all other perennials are coming to life. Lilacs and trees are budding. Some daffodils are 4" high. All the bushes survived due to having fenced everything last Fall, especially in the front of the house. Hoping the ornamental Adagio grass comes back.
Yeah, I outsmarted the rabbits for once! I even fenced the Arborvitae so the rabbits couldn't munch on those. They are growing back where they dined on it the previous winter. Glad we didn't cut them down.

Yep! Sure great to see things popping up. Fall planted garlic looking good here. Saw a bit of asparagus popping up and the peonies are sending up shoots. The Nanking cherries are blooming. The apricot tree is blooming and the apples are about ready to pop. The daffodils have been blooming for a couple of weeks. Funny the grass has not greened up yet. I suppose it is because of lack of rain. It has been dry here.

Wisteria is done, Carolina jasmine is done, daffs have been done for over a month (I think), weigela has a few blooms but I think some got frozen, the flowering crab apples are done & DH used the tractor to pull the trees out...they kept getting suckers off the roots and I don't need any more work. My azaleas are just about done too and the spirea is starting to shed. But I do have an iris blooming, about 6 bloom stems and an amaryllis has 4 big pink/white blooms open too. Day lilies should start before long and the creeping phlox is about done too! My bottle bush trees are starting to bloom and the red & gold honeysuckles just keep on going!
And I have enough weeding chores to keep me busy for a couple of weeks at least! ???

The crocus have come and gone, the days started blooming 3+ weeks ago and the first ones have faded The first tulips bloomed last week, peach, cherry and apple trees are blooming. Garlic is 8-10" tall. Onions are in. Lettuce, kale, chard, and peas are seeded and sprouted. And, of course, the dandelions.
All perennials are up and/or leaf budding, some are a foot tall (iris, day lilies). Native grasses have their first blush of green.
It's definitely an early spring garden.

Wow, it is interesting to see how things have flipped around this year. My garden is right where James's garden is and usually he is a couple of weeks behind! Asparagus are coming on now, peaches blooming, peonies up. I had trouble because I am used to putting seedlings out in the day starting in March, at least some days. They were stuck inside under the lights and boy did they get big.
