I had three sisters, no brothers, so it was likely that Mom did a lot of girlie stuff. Well ya, I got in on some of it too. Can I sew? Yes. Do woodworking? Yes, I am a carpenter by trade. Read? not much, my tired ol eyes don't do so well with a book.

my tired ol eyes don't do so well with a book James , have you tried the Large Print books? Our local library has a big selection of those, so you're not alone.
Since you are a fan of bird watching and an experienced carpenter, can you build and sell bluebird nesting boxes at your local garden market? Or build and install boxes to establish a bluebird trail. Perhaps there is already an established trail in your area...do they need cleaned and repaired? That would be a really "feel good" project.

No bluebirds here. We do get a Mountain Bluebird during migration at times. They don't nest here. Put up a bluebird house here an English Sparrow will be quick to take it over.

James, what about participating in or teaching a woodworking class at the local senior center? Do you have a shed you could work in during inclement weather?

Oh my, please stop giving me a job. At my age (78) I don't need a job. I am happy to sit here and play on the computer and look out the window and watch it snow. Nothing growing here but ice.

One thing about this instant Winter that began on January 11 is we get to have a new adventure every 2-3 days with a new storm system!

10 degrees this morning, calm and mostly blue skies. Lot is covered with snow. I took the wild birds some seed and come play on the computer.
I decided to mix bread. So now I have dough mixed and it is rising in the pan.

41 degrees, overcast, mild breeze, an inch of new snow on top of that we already had. Still looks like winter. I took the wild birds some seed and come play on the computer.
Oh, some Meadow Larks came to peck around under the bird feeder.
