I just heard an ad on radio a couple days ago. It was about Mazola oil being much better at reducing cholesterol than olive oil. This is not a new concept, there are several articles to be found if googling. They made it sound so amazing, wonderful and appealing.
Thoughts? I didn't catch if it was their corn oil or canola oil. Both of which can be GMO.

It all depends on who you listen to. One group says polyunsaturated is still best, another will say monounsaturated is best. And one group says coconut oil is no longer as bad as it used to be made out to be, while others say it is more saturated, thus worse than eating beef fat. You wonder, who do you listen to? They all list population studies to prove their points, but some are small, short in time, and there are always other items found regularly in the locals diet that can have similar effects on the heart. And many of the studies done on people with a large amount of their diet consisting of coconut oil, also eat a large amount of fish, so the fish may be "undoing" the bad effects of the coconut oil. The same thing may be happening in those studies of the "Mediterranean diet", with all that olive oil. The same results may occur using corn oil, if you have all the rest of the diet similar, with the high amount of wine and vegetables.

Thoughts? I didn't catch if it was their corn oil or canola oil. I avoid both. I mostly cook with coconut oil and think I am healthier for it. I prefer olive oil for flavor, but coconut oil is supposed to take heat better.

pepperhead212, tom 🕊, I heard the ad again today. It's Mazola Corn oil. Maybe they need to drum up business being there are so many other choices out there.
