It's been nine months since our 18.5 year old cat, Grace, left us for Mouse-in-the-Sky Heaven. Today we found (or she found us) our new friend- a six week old kitten. She is so small and so full of life and we are in love! No name yet- we need time for the right name to come to us. our first selfie on the ride home!

You will have to learn the "there's a kitten in the house shuffle". She's totally black...no markings? She's a cutie.

She is bonding very quickly with us Mumsey, There was some initial concern she was too listless and not well but as I watched her with the other two litter mates (who were very bonded with each other) she was excluded by them no matter how she tried to be involved with their play. She has blossomed into a very vibrant kitten with us playing with her. tWe want to train her to be traveling cat so she will go on some trips to town to acclimate her to car travel. Her first trip will be today- we'll take her to the house in town (in part, our offices) while we do some work there. binnylou, ah the kitten shuffle. Why do they like to get right into your foot steps? I just hope I don't break a bone. No real markings except that I see some subtle dark brown stripes in with the black, along her flanks, but over all looks black. She has a tiny tuft of white on one cheek- and some white hairs sprinkled along her hind legs. It's all very subtle. We'll see what happens as she grows into her body. It's her personality that caught us!

ha! she discovered a certain house plant tonight- euphorbia trigona. It's about 7' tall and has some prickly parts and she thought it would be a good idea to climb it! She soon changed her mind. She is really smart and quick and training has been pretty easy. Two or three 'corrections' (either a stern 'No' or simply picking her up and removing her from what we want to be different) and she gets it. With cats you don't train with punishment. They don't relate the punishment to their behaviors so it doesn't stick. They relate to praise and bonding to their humans. So we are constantly praising her with "good girl" on the behaviors we want from her. She had the catbox down the first day- so there have been no accidents around the house. She made 2 more trips to town this week and our offices at the house in town is like home to her, as well. We're still not sure on her name though Clementine seems to be the one sticking yesterday and today. She is so gentle. I also call her Smarty Pants and Cutie Patooty She sleeps with us at night and does think, however, it's a great time to play at 5AM. So she pounces our feet and legs that are under the blanket. I may have to call Mumsey , to play with her at that hour!

I just saw this. She is a cutie. I miss having a cat. The 51 pound dog is nice, except when he wants to cuddle on my lap. That's when I want a kittie.

I have discovered that cats are not my thing. I have Pecan right now but do not plan to get another cat ever. She is sweet but I can't say I enjoy her as much as I think I should. We have a good relationship and she purrs a lot as well. She is a part of the family here and is going nowhere.

They have a love - hate relationship. The puppy gets so excited and they chase each other around the couch mostly but it doesn't last too long when the cat gets annoyed and begins to hiss. Actually the pup is getting a bit big for the lap and is also way to busy. She just does not settled down easily. But each day a couple of times I will pick her up on my lap and give her a big belly rub.
That picture with the cat was before Jesse came along.
