Lililpeapicker - This direct seed planting of broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage is all new to me, but will let you know if something comes up.
We've had about 4 really nice days of almost 70 degrees that has warmed up the soil a bit. I seeded on the edges of the garden and will dig up some broccoli to transplant other places IF they decided to sprout. I imagine they'd be stronger than what I will still plant inside. I provide seedlings for the others in the community garden, so I feel better making sure I have something to share.

It has been unusually cold here for most the winter and now heading into Spring. I tried direct planting broccoli early one time and it seemed like it took a long to mature. This year I started them inside and I wanted to try putting them out early as transplants to see how they do. Last year I started indoors but didn't put them out until around May 10....this year I might go for the end of April. After all the time a seedlings indoor I don't want to lose them!

I've been eating collards, carrots and lettuce. My beans are about 3" high and my summer squash came up a few days ago. My sugar snap peas are happily climbing their supports and I set my tomato plants out 5 days ago. I should have had my corn & okra planted a couple of weeks ago but haven't managed it yet. Cabbage is looking good.

Went through half the carrot patch today. Got about two gallons of carrots. We should be able to see in the dark very well in a couple of weeks. Going to cut the spinach patch and the turnip patch in half tomorrow. Gotta make room for some Spring planting.
