Thought I had planted a flat of onion seeds out in my shed, but when they came up they look like carrots. I guess I have lost it??? I don't really want to transplant carrots, guess I will dump it and call it a germination test of the seed?

Human error James! I have sometimes gotten markers in pots mixed up and what appears is not what I thought I planted! Sometimes I thought Gremlins moved the markers around!
It's OK to make a mistake, even more OK to admit it! After all, no one is perfect. What a boring world it would be if we were!

Oh rats!
Well, if it makes you feel any better, I planted potatoes and I can't remember which bed they're in! Ha ha! I have a sneaking suspicion but I'd forgotten entirely that I'd planted them until a friend asked me if I'd got my potatoes in yet. No...I mean...yes...um...oh man...yes, but where are they?

Oh, I can easily mess things up. Well, my wife is telling me to go cut the flat into strips and plant the carrots. Maybe I will? In the meantime I got a couple of bundles of onions and a sack of onion sets from the nursery and planted them. So I have onions ready to grow. Mid March and the weather is beautiful. Makes me want to get to planting. It is a month before time to plant much here at this altitude though. Whatever happened to 'ol Man Winter? If you want my garden tips: donce.lofthouse.com/jamaica/GARDEN.pdfThis should work quite well for those in zone 5.

Well James,
Now I know why you didn't know what onion variety you were trying. Because they were carrots!
Gee, you already planted your onions in the ground out there. I am hoping to harden mine off and get them planted by 4/1 or so, here.
I like your wife's idea with the carrots. Do It.
I transplanted a turnip outside one year, and it was the best turnip I ever grew. Yep, there was a seed in the bottom of my seed box, couldn't think what it was, planted it in a pot inside, planted it out in the garden...................do them carrots!

Ok, I planted the flat of carrots out in the ground. See what happens.
Just for that, I am going to go find some turnip seed and plant it. Ya, outside.

Wr are only human James, if we were perfect we'd be delving into the divine realm. I could very easily make the same mistake. Just let us know how the transplants do. Experience is an education in itself. (
