I planted 10 tomato plants & 8 bell peppers. Now I need to turn and de-weed another area to have it ready for more tomatoes...."maybe" I'll get to it today, I have errands to run first!
And no one had to rock me to sleep last night either!

My toms, chiles and peppers won't go out until late May/early June.
My seeds aren't even up yet! Planted, but still germinating.
When do you get to eat your first toms?

Given the unseasonable warm spell I've been able to nurture some early volunteer tomatoes. Broc, cauliflower and cabbage are done. Based on weather patterns its time for summer squash, eggplant and peppers already. No rest for the wicked.

When we will get our first tomatoes will depend on our weather. Some years have been in late May/early June and others not until July. Last year, even with setting my plants out late for this area, we had fresh tomatoes for BLT's when son, dil & 2 grands were here and they arrived on the 5th of July. We had already had a few before they got here. But keep in mind that our hottest time is late July until mid Sept. and we get few to none tomatoes during that time....then they pick up production again until normally Nov.
The asparagus that I planted several years ago was marked down roots from Walmart....I have NO IDEA what variety it is...but it always seems to come up later than all you gals up north. I wanted to move my bed to different location and get some GOOD plants, but that won't happen this year as I had planned...maybe next year! I still need that space for tomatoes & onions this year. I need another bed built! 8-|
The radishes I planted are up and the carrots I planted are starting to come up. I'll have some peas to pick today, but only those that made it through the whole winter. The ones I planted about a month ago are just now starting to vine up....so I'll have to freeze what I get now to get enough for a mess. I have carrots that I planted last fall that are growing and will be ready to harvest from before too long.
My cabbage has been VERY slow, it grew over the winter but not much...I need to plant it earlier in the fall. My broccoli has put out it's main heads and is now putting out side shoots. And since I've seen a few sulpher (sp?) butterflies and one black swallow tail, I've covered it again...with my vinyl screen wire.

I am finally getting the day temperatures to wake up the tomato seed napping in wintersown totes. Today the Sapling-In-Chief and I rebuilt a drain that split in one of the -10°F nights. I laid on a heat tape that I still need to tape onto the drain. Yet another autumnal chore.
I have all the trees in proper pots and positioned for the increasing number of sunny spring days.

I did pick peas yesterday.....all 6 pods of them! And since there were so few, I ate them, right from the pod, sitting on the front porch! They were darn sweet!

Red, you couldn't have lived anywhere for 47 years! In your new photo, I thought you were in your 30's. Seriously. Must be all those herbs and healing living??
