I couldn't access the WAPO articles - been reading more than my free "quota" on their political coverage. The the WSJ article, although short, has some interesting news, specifically that foreign competition is challenging American organic farmer's ability to compete.
Frankly, though, I wouldn't be too wiling to accept that foreign grown produce or seeds are truly organic, unless they're tested on arrival. There's also the issue of stability of the countries on a short and long term basis. I'd be a bit uncomfortable relying on some countries b/c of political situations.
