Let there be light! We have had about 8 days without sunlight, but less than a quarter inch of rain, at least in my area - even less in other areas. Yesterday, there was a hint of sunlight, but only brief. The humidity was lower, finally, but still a little high. Temp only 71°, and only in the mid to low 60s at night.

Right now our weather reminds me of mountain weather. Bright clear sunny days and cool nights. The same in the foreseeable future. Not a drop of rain in sight. Not even dew on the grass!! 46* now.
UPDATE: 42*!!!

Almost 7:30 am, and it's 57*. Nice. We're supposed to have a heat wave this week, with a few days predicted in the low 90s. Not sure that will happen. I hope not. Overnights seem cool enough - probably because the hours of sunlight are fewer at this time of year. I think how hot it will get at any location will depend how close to the ocean one is. I'm in the low foothills at about 300 feet, with south and west exposures. It;s foggy now, but it can get hot when the fog burns off. At this time of year, the sun is already streaming through the windows. If it gets too hot, I'll be carrying some of my baby snapdragon seedlings into 'the cool room'.

At an official weather station somewhere in the area, it's rained for 11 straight days.

reuben, did you move to Florida? Daughter says every day, it’s raining, has rained, is going to rain, smells like rain.

reuben , did you move to Florida? Daughter says every day, it’s raining, has rained, is going to rain, smells like rain. Nope, I'm a thousand miles north, although I have relatives scattered around down there. Up here it's mushrooms, mushrooms, everywhere. The sun is supposed to reappear this afternoon or tomorrow, but I'll believe it when I see it. I'm not at all sure that it even exists anymore. My leading theory is that the aliens have decided to capitalize on our global warming and make Earth their personal greenhouse, so they've shielded us from direct sunlight - diffuse is better. Seems as though they like mushrooms, but I expect a flurry of anecdotal and scientific reports about new plant species being discovered. When I harvested chestnuts this morning some of them had mold already, so I left them out there. desertwoman says I should share with the squirrels, deer, and other critters, so I leave them one full tree and all of the moldy chestnuts they want. And even I, the guy who only mows a small amount of grass every couple of months, think that the grass is overdue for a trimming.

reuben, I’ve read that mushrooms grow where the soil is healthy. They love my hugelkulture raised beds….especially the shaded beds. Should you venture out to enjoy the sunshine today, don’t forget the sunscreen, hat, and shades.

And don't forget, just because there are clouds, doesn't mean there isn't sunlight.

Overnight fast moving thunderstorm left behind 3/10” rainfall. It could have lingered a while longer. Rain received might control road/harvest dust until later today.

Today, and continuing for the next week, in the low 80s/days and 40s/nights. Clear and dry. It's beautiful here.

Last night's low was 38º and today's high was 81º. As much as I am loving these comfortably warm days, this is so not right.

Tonight is forecast to be the first night in the 40s this fall, after just a little warm today - maybe 75°, 71° avg for this area. A few days ahead are forecast for the 60s, but then it's going back up into the 70s again. And still no rain at all in the 10 day.

No rain in sight for almost the next two weeks. Morning showers slated for today turned into morning sprinkles. May have to set the hose up next Sunday.
