Rain forecast for the coming weekend is now up to about 1.5 inches. Cool! Hope it happens.

I should be fast asleep, but it's impossible. We're on a "tornado watch" for the next couple of hours & I just cannot sleep listening to wind whipping/crashing around outside. Not that there's much we could do if a tornado hit us in the wee hours of darkness.

It got as dark this morning as it did from the eclipse the other day - maybe darker! It was raining very hard, with those very dark clouds. The rain has let up, but more is coming, from down south, where those really bad storms are occurring. It's mostly going W of me, and the last front I was in between the two worst parts going west and east of here, but I had about .40" so far, around 9 am, slowing down some now, and the light came back some. They are still predicting thunderstorms for later, but nothing like this morning.

We got over an inch of rain last night, with 100% chance today. Just not a nice day~!

Luckily, nothing "wicked this way" came. But I was literally up all night, so my a** is dragging today. The wind was horrible, & I lay awake all night like the late great Mantan Moreland in a Grade C horror flick, listening for the typical tornado "oncoming train" sound. Lost electricity at 1 a.m., which stayed off for most of the rest of the night. We don't get many tornadoes here in Virginia, but we've experienced two in very close proximity to our homestead, so I'm ever vigilant about them.

We've had several days of rain on top of wet ground, about 6" total. I drove through water running across the road this morning on my way to the chiropractor, it was about 4" deep and running between two cornfields so there was no danger of being swept downriver in a raging torrent. Winds are currently gusting over 50 mph and we have a high wind warning in addition to the flood warning. I'm patiently waiting for the weather service to issue a warm & sunny warning.

We had some high winds and lost electricity yesterday afternoon. I had a meeting last evening which I really hated to miss, but driving 20 miles in high winds and torrential rains in the dark isn't my cup of tea.
Today it is rain, rain, rain with some major flooding in surrounding counties.

Looks like the rain stopped here, at about half an inch today, and the sun is finally out. Way to wet to do anything, since the ground was already saturated, but I remember the last few years I've had to water at this time of year! We'll see if it goes back into a draught, come summertime.

Last night's low was 31º and today's high was a sunny 75º-- that's moving into May weather.

Much cooler today, maybe staying in the 50s, and very windy, with 40-45 mph gusts. Low 40s overnight, then it starts going up in the 70s again every day until next weekend, with lows in the 50s, until the end of the week. And of course, more rain, later today.
