We had tornado watch yesterday til 8 pm. Then a severe thunderstorm warning. That turned out to be a couple minutes of pea size hail and a little rain with some wind.

Well over 70° over much of the area, with record highs all over. 51° is the average high for this date! Another 70° tomorrow, then it drops to more average temps, with a number of lows below freezing, so I didn't turn the water back on yet - didn't really need to wash anything out yet, or water anything. Eventually I'll have to, and hopefully the temps will be above freezing, for good, but that doesn't always happen.

A gorgeous mid 50s day but the wind was fierce making it not a nice day to be working in the gardens.
We may have some light rain/snow tomorrow and Sunday- the tail end of a strong storm in Colorado.

Winter Storm watch for us tomorrow into Monday. Heavy snow they say. I say it won't stick long with warmer temps after the storm.

We are hoping for just rain, mixed with some snow. Further north there is a forecast of 1-2' of blowing snow, with the possibility of shutting down I-25 and I-70, as well as secondary highways for some time. Not a good time to travel in the mountains...

Back to cold again, after that warmth of a few days; although around average for a couple of days, before getting even colder for a few days (43° one day, with a low of 26°), it is those winds that make it worse - 30-40 mph, even worse last night, when that front came through. It's still winter!

Well, our forecast of 1-2" turned into 5-6" and it is still snowing. But it could have been much worse, as my brother in Ft. Collins is experiencing this morning...

pondgardener, that looks like a 2' snowfall. Is that hidden object to the left a vehicle? WOW! That's a lot of snow. I notice that the house in the far right of the picture doesn't have as much snow on the roof. Is this snowfall a one-time event, or is there an accumulation of snow on the ground to reflect the difference between what might have melted off the roof and what remained on the ground? Still, that's a lot of snow to deal with. I hope your brother's family is safe and still have power?

SpringRain🕊️, the Cheyenne Weather Service, posted a 2 day total of almost 26 inches from this storm, breaking a record, with more to come. Snow accumulation on the ground is deeper as the ground is already cooler than roof surfaces which release heat from homes. And there were wind gusts blowing things around as well. We have gotten snow here in southern Colorado which was over 16 inches, but it all depends on where a low pressure system sets up to churn Gulf of Mexico moisture back against the mountains. If we get what is referred to as an "Albuquerque Low", and the conditions are right, then we get pounded. This time though, the low pressure system was about 150 or more miles north of Albuquerque, which is why Denver, Ft. Collins and Wyoming got the worst of it. We do appreciate the moisture though...

We are north of ABQ about 70 miles and are backed against what are called the phalanges of the Rocky Mountains. So far we have only had grey skies and a spit of snow yesterday that lasted about 10 minutes. And it is spitting now. But temps dropped dramatically. Supposed to warm up to the 50s tomorrow and all week.

We are west of Denver, next to the Hogback before the Rockies start their climb. The snow started yesterday afternoon around 4 and dropped about 4 inches before we went to bed. 24 hours later and the snow and wind are still heavy. Not sure when the storm will move East, but we definitely need the moisture My garlic is just beginning to show and will love the moisture they're getting today. It's a nice day to make banana bread.

Tornado watch 3 days ago. Now we are in Winter Storm Warning! I have the shovel outside by the deck door. With the wind we can expect some drifting.
Glad I didn't uncover all the perennials, only the ones I know will be OK with some snow. Like Sedum and Chives.
