...not very well it seems
I try every year to bring in the ferns but right now I have completely lost one and the other is 75% dead.
Forced air heat and no humidity in the cold winter makes it hard to keep them alive. I try to remember to mist them with water, but cannot do that every hour as needed here.
Some of my house plants do well, such as peace lilly, spider plant, snake plant, and aloe.
Guess those are pretty hard to kill. At least they are also some of the best plants to clean the air...and they are pretty cat-proof too, and evidently not toxic to them as they continuously nibble on them.

Stuck, have you tried a pebble tray? that helps provide humidity. I use a turkey pan and grate. I can tell how dry apt is by seeing how quick the water in the tray evaporates. I even got a humidifer, but haven't got it working yet. (bad on my skin too. I found peanut oil to be really great for dry skin.)

I use a thrift store purchased crock pot, no lid, filled with water on high for a humidifier...

I don't have a pebble tray, but the pots are sitting in a large drain tray which I think would do the same thing. I water mainly from the bottom, tried putting them in the shower and letting the shower run on them, without the drain tray, but they dried up anyways. Too bad since they are such beautiful full lush plants when they are outside on the patio in the summer, even though there isn't much humidity here even in the summer. They get watered well once or twice a day when it gets hot outside. I will probably buy a couple more this spring for the patio.
I dont run a humidifier as there are people with allergies to molds, and that doesn't work well for us. I sometimes simmer a pot of water and spices on the stove, and have a teapot on the stove every day.

I put my plants in the shower after I shower to absorb the humidity. another thing that has kept my guys going is, I water with the water left over from steaming vegetables.
this also benefits me- If I don't have enough vegetable water, I know I am not eating enough vegies!
