We bought new smartphones yesterday. My brain is tired and I’ve never felt so dumb.
It will get better, but I think I miss my old flip phone.

Latitude33, Ouch! Hope you're feeling better soon! Wheelgarden, That's great news! pepperhead212, sounds like a good deal on that dryer. I keep investing in ours at least once a year and honestly can't complain if they do bite the dust as the washer was given to hubby for junk when a landlord was renovating a rental property and the dryer belonged to my mother-in-law who wanted a matched set.

I am so challenged when it comes to electronics but with that said- I broke down and got a smartphone 2 years ago and absolutely love it. I don't use half the functions but what I do use is wonderful. I think you will love it too and won't miss that flip phone for long. My advice- don't try to figure it all out at once. Get the basics down. One function at a time. You can gingerly explore more as the spirit moves you, further on.

I don't know, emmsmommy. From where I sit, you accomplish a lot everyday. You and Mumsey are both the energizer bunnies of this community! I get tired just reading about both of yours days! I feel flattered but I don't think I can hold a candle to Mumsey . I fully expect to read about her taking a ten-mile walk in the morning and vacuuming the garden before summer's over. I think I do expect too much of myself and that's a hard habit to break. I did get the garden bed leveled and filled the next day and spread mulch around the new bed and to the edges of the fence. Was nearly dark when I finished so didn't get it planted yet. Still have the potted peach trees in the corner of the garden to get in the ground and don't want to move them until right before I'm ready to plant. After they're gone, I can mulch that corner and have the entire garden done. Hoping to get the cattle panel arch secured today. I want to use shorter post for that and the ground is saturated enough that I should be able to pull them from the old garden with ease. I did pull an old chair out of the overgrown shade garden and have deligated it to the garden. Not a beautiful piece as it's an old fiberglass seated thing that reminds me of the school chairs from the 80s, but with a bit of paint and elbow grease I see it being my throne to watch over the garden this year. Hubby had a return visit to surgeon yesterday for staple removal and he did confirm that the rotator cuff injury can be taken care of with therapy. He does want to let his arm heal up a bit more first. So now he is only restricted by what he is comfortable doing. I did let him drive a bit but he pulled over after five miles and said he wasn't quite ready for that yet. We stopped at the big greenhouse where I found a new variety of chives and a rush plant for the pond and Kroger since ours still hasn't reopened. Once we got back to our town I returned a water hose to Lowes (don't recommend the never-kink brand they carry) and left with several marked down hostas. After finishing up the shopping at Walmart and picking up the discarded electronics at the thrift store, our car was so loaded that we had to stop at the house to unload the plants and perishables before we could pick up the kiddo. My parents will be having their 50th anniversary tomorrow and I'm planning to cook a seafood supper at their house which will be interesting as my dad only likes breaded stuff while the rest of us are a bit more adventurous. That reminds me that I need to gather more tomato and herb plants for mom today too.

I keep telling my husband that - techno-idiot that I am - I'm just not smart enough for a Smartphone - lol!

I'm like you, breezygardener, I'm good with my old flip-phone. It's all I want or need, and I don't use it very much anyway.

Smart phones are frowned upon in our community, especially for children, but the reasons apply to adults also. Too easy to waste time with gossip and other nonsense and also to see things that we don't need to see. I basically use my phone for talking to friends and family and taking pictures. Hope to get a simpler phone next time.

I've decided all the Russian Sage plants have to go. The attraction to them was that they thrive in poor soil, are extremely drought tolerant and have a beautiful blue bloom for the entire summer. But.... they are also very invasive.
I cut down 6 more today, including all their runners. They are hard to destroy- tough little buggers they are. Options are digging them out, an herbicide or drowning them until they rot. Definitely won't use the herbicide, water is too precious during this extreme drought to use, and digging them out is not a priority of my time use. I have been successful with cutting them down, sometimes several cuttings- until they stop growing.
I've planted so many over the years. Between the two houses I had, at one point, 20 plants. I am now down to 8-- 3 here at home and 5 at the office house in town. The last 3 here will be cut down over the weekend.

Dagnabbit pepperhead212, showing those basil clones is not helping my decision to put off building a cloner.

Did get the posts pulled and the trellis in place yesterday. Planted a few Quinault strawberries in one end of the new bed. Today we had planned dinner at my parent's house but my daughter woke up vomiting and we of course postponed. She's just starting to eat and drink something so we shall see what tomorrow brings. I was trimming back herb plants and taking cuttings on the deck when I heard her crying this morning. A peak in the window revealed her to be out of bed and of course I had locked myself out of the house. So glad we finally decided to keep a key hidden outside.

At last! the nights are consistently above 50º now. 40 New Mexico chile plants, 4 sweet cherry peppers and 3 paprikas into the beds today and a whole bunch of snipping bindweed at ground level.

I had locked myself out of the house. I had a locksmith put in a lock on the side door where you punch the buttons in a certain order to get in. Much easier when my hands are almost full and I don't relish digging in my pocket for a key. Also I can leave the doors locked while working out back and still get in without needing a key.

All is wet and well, and found an idle corner of the garden where the arugula from last year has re-seeded. I'll have more rocket than ever, and I don't mind one bit.
