Now that the rain has stopped, its time to get some of these plants into the ground! Tomatoes, peppers, jalapeño's, habanero's, squash, cucumbers, okra, melons and pumpkins are all going to get their time in the sun...

Got the Sprite tomatoes in the ground, watered and mulched everything with finely composted wood chips ahead of the mid-90s heat wave coming up for the next few.

Found the first planting of Fortex beans nicely sprouted today. They were planted 5/15. Petunias are planted in the deck hayrack planters. Planted a few more tomatoes...just in time for a big cloudburst.
*******
update...that cloudburst measured 9/10 of an inch.

Kicked most of the kids out of the house and into the dirt today. Time will tell who survives.
I gave them some water to start their journey.

Raining. So got busy cleaning house. The Princess goes to the tub next. She tries to get DH to let her out so she can go hide. Not happening. He has his orders! Got out summer clothes, put away the Winter.
Picked a few radishes and checked the rain gauge. 1" yesterday and overnight.

Kicked more teenagers out of the house. Only infants left in the basement. Thankfully, they're not colicky.
I'm practically an empty nester.

The plants have spent the past week out side during the day...and last couple night now as well...tomorrow they goin. In the dirt....well IF my stamina lasts. Today I planted 50 Lilly roots at my daughters house while watching my grandson #1 outdoors and #3 slept. Hung the flower boxes on the deck for the season...they make me smile..petunias, nasternumb and lobelia that I started from seed. Found a beautiful yellow baptisa that I’ll plant in the garden next to the blue one...so beautiful.

Hubby's surgery was today and they removed a fatty tumor from his deltoid muscle. We'll have to wait for pathology reports before we decide on a plan of action but so glad it's finally out. He's in pain now and will be in a sling for a few weeks but still keeping a positive attitude. Most of my plant babies are outside and a few are still in the greenhouse which is getting dappled shade now. Mostly it's cuttings left inside now and will be transitioning some of them soon as well. Watered as much as I could yesterday afternoon before I had to leave for a meeting and decided to tackle the rest this morning. It was interesting trying to snake the hose between plants with only a lantern to see by but got it accomplished. The sheets I used for frost coverings were easily accessible so I made a shade for some of the plants I feared would dry out too much in the heat. Have the soaker hose running in the beds where I planted peppers and tomatoes and hope to get the rain barrel set up over the weekend if time permits. The next two days are predicted to be in the mid-80s and I foresee a dip in the wading pool in my future.

Got my second vaccine Friday morning and felt good all day. Today started out good but as time went on I became kind of lethargic. Sweetheart and I did get some errands done which included delivering tomato and pepper plants to some friends of ours. Old German Pink, the Ox Heart that Mumsey speaks so highly of and Rutgers along with a few green pepper plants. Later on sweethearts dil and grandkids came by for hamburgers and hotdogs. By the time we were done eating I was worn out and layed down for nap also running a slight fever. An hour and a half nap and I feel pretty darn good. It will be awhile till I can get to sleep. 😂

Started 3 mile early morning walks yesterday. Very humid! Had to wait til after 10 for the grass to get dry enough to mow. Noticed Italian leaf cabbage and kohlrabi are sprouting. Fennel need thinning out, thinned more lettuce. Potatoes are finally coming up, planted those kind of late. Generally takes 3 weeks so they are right on time.
Going fishing this morning as soon as it gets light. First time this season. Then brother and I will put straw down around potatoes. Rhubarb season is here, Tuesday we will be harvesting the first orders for grocery stores. Around 100 lbs. Ugh.
