gardendmpls , when I look up the tire size online I'm finding that I can buy the whole wheel and tire assembly for around $15 which would be much simpler than changing just the tire. Will make sure I can get all the old bolts loosened before I purchase one. If I buy a new one it will definitely have a solid tire as I had become accustomed to checking the air pressure in our old one before I loaded it with anything heavy.

Well, it looks like I'll be scaling my garden plans back a bit. The reason? A lovely broken leg this past Monday. A nightmarish hospital stay as well (and that's sayin' something, because I've had all-too-many experiences)... I guess that's one way to downsize the garden, dag-flippin-nabbit. But I WILL garden, and no-one or no-thing will stop me. Life, and the garden, will go on.

Walked 3 miles this morning and another 3 this afternoon. The wind is a bit brisk so it feels cooler than yesterday. But we toughed it out and stayed away from the edge of town to dodge the wind.
Tomorrow I'll be strategically placing tomato cages in the yard where muddy areas generally appear, to keep Miss Muddy Paws out of the mud. Today she insisted on laying in the mulch in front of the arborvitaes, she blends right in. Couldn't find her! Nice sunny protected area.

Wheelgarden , so sorry but I'm sure you'll be back to the garden before you know it. I'll dedicate and plant one of the new beds for you.

It's beautiful outside but the wind is harsh. Decided not to let my daughter go outside after school today and had her occupied with one of her new alphabet apps while I finally totaled my garden harvest for last year. Surprised to find I harvested over 141 pounds of produce, with beans being the highest producer, followed by tomatoes and potatoes. My worst harvest was the fall peas at less than an ounce, but I think I may have missed recording totals for a few days. Also the stuff I munched on while perusing the garden wasn't counted nor were the bagfuls I grabbed on the way to mom's house. Considering I started with two established beds and added seven more I think it did pretty well. Of course with my background of crunching numbers, I had to figure out the total harvest per square foot as well and averaged 8.8 ounces. So considering I'm adding 32 more feet of bed space this year, I'm setting my goal of 288 pounds this year.

Geez wheelgarden, this is not the time to go breaking your leg! But I WILL garden, and no-one or no-thing will stop me. Life, and the garden, will go on. Love it! With that kind of spirit the garden scale back will likely be temporary. Wish I was close by to help, too. Rootin' for you!

Wheelgarden, I'm so sorry to learn of your broken leg, and hope that your recovery is rapid, safe, and inspirational (to still plant, of course!). Best wishes for a rapid and safe recovery.

Dude, that's not good. Any estimate on the recovery period?
Take care. Pot up some seedlings. Maybe someone will build you a RAISED bed you can tend to?

Potted twenty Yellow Wonder alpine strawberry plants and separated the smaller seedlings and will let them grow a bit more before potting. I managed to misplace the snap clamps I bought for the mini greenhouse last fall and put in an order for another set as I was going to need more for another project anyway. Drug the greenhouse pieces to the garden, got it together, made a missing support, finagled three additional shelves and leveled it up just before UPS came with the clamps. So have the plastic attached to all four sides and have it anchored enough to withstand the wind I think. Didn't cut out for the door yet as I sill have to do some brainstorming on that as the old one was zippered and I didn't want to leave it open for fear of the wind picking it up. Now we'll see how it holds up to gusts as I'd rather it topple now than when it's full of plants.
