and there was my phone on the bottom of the machine under the clothes. That's the exact same place I found my wallet two weeks ago... but it's not like I was intentionally laundering money. That's what they all say.

Pulled out someone who was stuck in the snow and ice in their driveway. Went soft and bought some seed and suet for the birds. Juncos are having a hard time. Dropped off tax stuff. Did some reading.
Exciting, eh?

How about your service? I need input. We are with Consumer Cellular and have loved it. Great prices for seniors too. We had a choice of hooking in to AT&T or T-Mobile lines through CC. For our house At&T lines work best. And coverage's been good when we took road trips pre-pandemic. Customer Service has been wonderful the rare times we've had to call (in the beginning when we first joined) Been with them 3 years and no complaints. But our needs are simple. Neither of us are joined at the hip with our smarty phones, like some are.

Woke up to a clogged shower. Spent most of the morning attempting to clear the drain without success. Used the wet vac to pull at least 8 gallons of water and crude out. Called the plumber then called the office. Worked from home while dealing with the annoyingly perky plumbing dispatcher telling me "We can have a plumber out there as early as 3 p.m." At least I avoided the commute for a day.

I spent the day putting all the things away that I got out to deal with low temps, no water, and no power since last Sunday. I didn't finish...
Tomorrow though, I get to take off all of the plant coverings to see what lived and what died. Judging from what I can see, a lot is going to be dead.
One more night of 27 degree cold, dripping faucets. Now the work starts.

Been working on laundry and rearranging the house. Moved grandma's mattress and box spring into the living room and need to go find the frame. Hubby's pre-op appointment is Monday and surgery is Friday. Also realized why I keep constantly cutting quilt pieces--it's my therapy! Lack about 50 pieces for one quilt and have the shower curtain pieces about half cut out. So until I can get outside and get some much needed sunshine and fresh air, I'll have a project (or two) to work on inside. Going to pick up groceries Monday afternoon as I don't see hubby being much of a babysitter for a few weeks and won't take my daughter into the stores with me. I think my old seeds aren't going to produce much. I had a few garlic chives to sprout but other than that nothing. I'll give them another week and plant something else into the containers.

I'll give them another week and plant something else into the containers. Sure enough when you do that, the original seeds will germinate (if you are using the same soil)!

On a roll today. Planted peppers, tended the rest of the garden basement. Watered and fertilized house plants. Dishwasher empty. Treadmill done. Going to walk around 9:00 before snow starts.
Yesterday I knocked all the icicles from the eaves. Darn dangerous if we are going out and one falls on us or the dog. New ones appeared already. Was looking for something to sew yesterday. Started out with what I imagined as a runner for a bay window. Then spied an old bed pillow on the couch. Tore that apart, it was an old Serta. Surprised at the innards. Thick batting type polyfil all folded around a piece of waffle foam( discarded that) in the center. No wonder it couldn't be fluffed. Glad I tore it up. We now have a nicer couch pillow. I have another one just like it, it will meet the same fate. Possibly as soon as today.

Sure enough when you do that, the original seeds will germinate (if you are using the same soil)! I thought if that too. Will make sure to plant something I can distinguish from the original seed.

I neither want nor need a "Smartphone"; just have a regular flip-phone that's used for phone calls only. Don't need to be connected to the world 24/7. My bill ranges between $13-$18 a month. Works for me.

The cabbage, carrots, brussel sprouts, and some mustard greens (all covered) made it. Everything else froze. The house plants in the greenhouse made it. All other plants covered or uncovered froze except for shrubs that I don't like. I've never seen South Texas look like this even in severe droughts. Even the grass is brown.
I know many of you look at this sort of thing 3-6 months out of the year. It is uncommon here.
The bright side is that I get to start all over with new stuff....

The bright side is that I get to start all over with new stuff.... Is it possible that the top winter killed, but the roots survived? There's going to be a lot of competition for replacement landscaping plants.

binnylou, One option is to simply plant vegetables In the flowerbeds for a year. We have done that before. They are pretty and can be eaten as well! Tabasco and Cayenne peppers make beautiful ornamentals and there's no way I can eat what is on a single plant much less six of them. Alan

Worked at mom's mostly. Nurse said today "Whatever she is doing, keep doing it." Garden wise picked up more soil for containers and raised beds. Partially resisted temptation to jump start tomatoes and peppers...bought a couple starts, Beefmaster and Poblano. Purely for scientific purposes you understand. Did start some zukes and yellow straight neck squash. Harvested lemons, oranges, broccoli and cilantro.
