pepperhead212, thanks for the info. Your post brings back memories of my having to do something like that, but it didn't eliminate the need for 2 remotes. I'm copying your advice and trying again. Mumsey, interesting that your city has updated your system. I've spoken to the designated city rep a few times, and the gist of his advice was generally that Comcast dominates the network here and there's not much that can be done about it. The absolute best provider I've had was TimeWarner; service was good, everything was straight forward. Is your machine a table/desk type unit as opposed to a portable? My mother had one of those larger machines, and if I remember it had a knee activated control as opposed to a foot pedal. It's probably an antique by now. My portable Pfaff was a real asset; I could carry it to class when I taught sewing, although I wouldn't do that again.

Today, I mulched everything, and gave thanks to my garden and the wonderful bounty it provides us.

We had quite a magnificent Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey, ham (because dad won't eat turkey), sweet potatoes (from my garden), corn, beans, stuffing, deviled eggs, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry salad and mom's homemade crescent rolls. Homemade pumpkin and apple pies for dessert. All was delicious!
Talked mom into giving me a badly needed haircut. I think I shocked her when I said I wanted it shoulder-length, as it had gotten pretty long. It looks a lot better and will be easier to maintain.

On my daily yard poo pickup duty I noticed celery sprouts still green under the leaf mulch. Parsley that was cut down in pots is growing and such a pretty green! I noticed funny stuff in the dog poo, figured out it was bird suet! I don't know how she got it unless a squirrel knocked it out of the little cage thing. Now to think of a better place for it.
Pretty quiet day yesterday, didn't see much activity in the neighborhood either. Walked twice, whole town was quiet. Sunny in the afternoon. Had late dinner, more like suppertime. Watched the National Dog Show, then some Hallmark movies, then got stuck on Shark Tank Marathon. Did some quilting while watching TV.

I took down the Fall, Halloween, and Thanksgiving decorations this afternoon then started decorating for Christmas. I put the lights on the house, was lucky enough to have decent temps and no rain this time. Hopefully, I will have the rest of it done tomorrow.
Grandma took Gunner out gardening today and brought back a different-colored dog, mud from snout to tail. Although it wasn't on my list, he got himself a bath. He still loves his bath and always walks right into the tub for me, good boy Gunner!
We spent Thanksgiving at our daughter's house, they cooked the turkey, rolls, and such, everyone else brought a dish or two. We had pumpkin and caramel apple pies made by a chef friend of the S-I-L and they were yummy.

martywny,I did the same thing. All the fall/Thanksgiving decorations down and put away. Brought the Christmas decorations down from the attic. Luckily we put the outside light up a couple of weeks ago when it was in the 70's. Last night was when we turned them on. The house is all decorated but I sure have a lot of stuff I need to let go of.

Started out with 3 mile walk yesterday, chilly and dark so we stayed more toward the center of town to be out of the direct wind. 4 trips around the court house is a mile, works for me! Vacuumed. Shredded papers, a year's worth of stuff. Had a garbage bag full. Organized the stuff that we need to keep a bit. Really need to sort through drawer full of owner manuals, warranties etc. and get rid of ones for stuff we don't even have any more. Went around and cleaned all hard surfaces in kitchen and bathrooms. Quilted a bit. Washed dog bedding. Went for another walk, 2 miles. Quite pleasant in the afternoon. Dry brushed The Princess in the tub followed by vacuuming the tub, then scrubbed it.
Our town had Mingle on Main last night, the beginning of the Holiday season. Scaled back of course and hopefully people were sensible with social distancing. We didn't go. We will drive around later after dark and see the sights.

Got up early yesterday and decided to start piecing blocks for one of the denim quilts. It's almost ready to lay out on the floor and decide the best placement, and then it will become a top. Worked on living room again and sorted through boxes of papers and miscellaneous craft supplies. This morning I woke up later and decided I had time to trim down the denim triangle blocks I made, but ruler I needed was in another room. So I started piecing strips to make more 9-patches for the other denim quilt. Neither of these quilts are to be Christmas presents but I figured if I can get them sewn into tops, I'd have a free container. Hoping to have all the rag quilts and other projects I'm intending for presents sewn together by Dec. 14, with the exception of my daughter's rag quilt that I intend to embellish a bit. If I meet that goal, I'll have two weeks to quilt and snip seams.
Made a trip out to the compost pile yesterday and decided the jack o' lantern I put on top a few weeks ago was ready to be incorporated into the pile. Deposited the kitchen scraps with it and placed some of the material from the outside edges of the pile on top. Looks like it's breaking down nicely. Still need to clean off the small tomato bed and then the garden will be ready for winter.

I finished the rest of the outside lights and everything can be turned on with two remotes, just need to focus the spots tonight when it gets dark. Waiting for our wreath, bought one from the church this year and it's still another week out.
Put out some traps because yesterday I found some critters nesting next to the raised beds. They look like fat, tan mice but their tail is shorter in relationship to the body than a typical mouse. I also put out a trail cam to see what the source of some droppings I found in the yard may be. My first thought is raccoon but we'll find out for sure.

They look like fat, tan mice but their tail is shorter Looked in my Petersons field guide to mammals. Most short tailed mice are in the South or Midwest (Oldfield, Northern Grasshopper). One that fit was the white-footed mouse ("tail usually shorter than head or body"). Of course might be a vole of some sort. "A vole has rounded ears . A vole's body and is reddish or brown and black in color with a gray underside. Voles prefer to live in low-lying or creeping vegetation, and make trails through the grass or snow. Voles are primarily herbivores and will feed on the roots, bulbs, bark and seeds of many ornamental plants and grasses." They also have a heavier body, don't know why they left that out.. Played around in quilt fabric, found enough large pieces to make a quilt to replace the couch quilt that is nearly 30 years old, the first one I ever made. It has lasted well and is beginning to fray at the edges. Well loved!
Then while thinking about shopping Monday, visited some store websites and decided online is the way to go. Farm & Fleet has $6 shipping on all orders through tonight. Some items do not qualify, one of them being bird seed. But it only added $.95 to the shipping. I ordered quite a bunch of stuff, things I normally buy there. And the bird seed is 35 lb bag for $7.99. Check that store off the list.
Then visited Joann site. Ordered stuff for curbside pickup, threads and other notions. Of course the thing I will run out of first is hand quilting thread. They are out of the white. Hobby Lobby is out of stock too. Put that on the list of shortages. I can't imagine that many people are hand quilting.
Visited Baker Creek and ordered lemon grass seed. I think I have all seed now for next year.
Walked uptown last night to see the lighting. Drab this year, they didn't put them all up. There is music though, all day, from speakers on light posts. I'd hate to live in the apartments above the businesses with music blasting outside the windows.
Cold out there, but not as cold as it will be. Walked 2.5 miles already. High winds later today. Thought about raking up remnant leaves today. That thought quickly dissipated. They are where they are for the rest of the Winter.

Today's episode of Stupid Gardener Mistakes: Went out to cover the broccoli (nice heads forming), kales and tatsoi (lush and tasty) with hoops and clear plastic, as there is a mid 20's freeze event coming for the next few days. Smart gardener, huh? Then I discovered that the big roll of clear plastic I had was only three feet wide --- what I had bought last year by mistake. Derp. Stupid gardener.

Went to my parents for hubby's birthday dinner. Took one of the in-progress denim quilts along as I figured two sets of eyes were better than one. Found a layout I liked and gathered the rows in order to be (hopefully) sewn together this week. Cut more pieces for the other one and will only need about 30 minutes to stitch them together and lay it out on the floor in prep for stitching. Sad that our school vacation is coming to an end as I'll have to reclaim the dining room table. I have a cabinet machine that I'm hoping to move to the living room and give a good tuneup soon. It will be so nice not having to clean up my quilt mess every morning.
I also shopped Joann Fabric and took advantage of the $1.99 shipping for some craft supplies mom needed.

Wheelgarden, I think rather that the issue was the plastic just shrunk over the season.
