Anyone use this or have any thoughts about it? Having become increasingly decrepit with two knees that no longer function as "kneelers", regardless of pads, have been wondering if this might be a worthwhile purchase.

I just got one as a gift. Have not tried it yet. What I can tell you is that it is kinda heavy. Hear what you are saying about the knees. That's why I do alot of gardening sitting down when I can.. Transplanted cabbage this morning while sitting . This afternnon the broccoli goes in and onions too.

Hear what you are saying about the knees. That's why I do alot of gardening sitting down when I can.. Yeah. My left knee is pinned together with what I can only call surgical-steel "carriage bolts" after an accident years ago, thus my right knee has had to take the brunt of me & is now starting to give up the ghost. I can walk just fine - but kneeling is now no longer an option, & when I can get down on the ground, I then cannot get up without serious assistance. I do have one of those combo foldable sitting/kneeling things, but of course I can't find it & may have to order another one. Either that or Mr. Breezy will have to be on call when I'm outside gardening in order to hoist me around - lol!

breezygardener, have you tried a hula hoe/stirrup hoe? Easy to use, slices off those young weeds, maneuvers easily around the base of a plant, easy on the back. Bone on bone knees keeps me off the ground…I’d love to be down there for planting and weeding. Life has changed…just adapt.

Yes, I do have & use a stirrup hoe, & have for many years. But this tool is meant to dig out long-rooted weeds. Stirrup hoes don't work on those.

Haven't used it but adding this... my sister bought me a kneeler/bench a couple of years ago. I wasn't ready for it yet, but have found it very useful on certain days and will be using it more and more as these years go by. It looks very similar to this: (I've even sat on the kneeling position to keep me off damp soil) In the bench position , it's about a foot off the ground.

I fell at the sports field near me when I forgot to carry my phone. Luckily someone was walking the park too and helped me up .

Mine very conveniently folds up flat when not in use. So I folded it up after the last time I used it & now have no idea where I stuck it. I may just have to bite the bullet & order another one. Although then, of course, after I order one I'll immediately find the one I have. . .

I have one of those, but find it two or three inches too high for my comfort. I have used other things, like a shower chair discarded for a loose arm. Put the legs on the shortest setting and it works for the garden.

The link didn't work for me, so I didn't really know what it was. But when wandering around on Amazon just now, I came upon it. And I have one. It was given to me when a friend was moving and I haven't tried it yet. Will let you know. It seems very sturdy, but I'm not sure the one I have is from Amazon (though my friend's nickname was Amazonamomma.)

If I didn't complain about my aches and miseries, I would have less justification to sip my margaritas.
Seriously though, I am considering something similar along with taller raised beds.

So - with serious gardening stuff quickly upon us, I bit the bullet & ordered the "Grandpa's Weeder", which arrived today & looks extremely sturdy, as well as the "Grandpa's Garden Hook" hand weeder/cultivator thingy.
Also ordered & received another of the foldable kneeler/bench thingies since I STILL haven't located my original one & don't want to end up outside like a turtle on its back.

I watched someone demonstrate one somewhere, YouTube maybe. I keep putting off the kneeler/stool purchase but the knees aren't getting any younger. Torn meniscus and surgery on the right one eighteen years ago and my kneecap is "bumpy" from three hard falls on concrete over the years. Now arthritis in both knees... Ugh...

My right knee is shot. Really have to go get it looked at. I have that same kneeler bench. I've only used it a few times and I like it.
