Lowes just announced that they will stop using and selling nicotine based pesticides (over the next 48 months..not great but a step in the right direction). A spokesman said that it was due to the public outcry against products. they stated that they are moving in a different direction offering more organic items.

Just read where Lowes bought Orchard Supply and Hardware in 2013. Wonder if it will apply to them as well?

Well...I also read that because the pesticide is systemic that it may persist in the soil and plants that are perennial for several years. I haven't bought any flowers or veg from lowes or HD for quite a while. HD hasn't made any statements about whether or not their growers are using it or if they will stop selling products.

I don't buy any potted plants at either Lowe's or HD either.
Good news about Lowe's. I had not heard that.

I buy lots of marked down flowers from Lowes....HD doesn't mark theirs down here, they send them back.
But both places and Walmart and even several nurseries around here all use the same growers. So really doesn't make a difference where I buy, so I just look for the best variety and price. There is a HUGE nursery down in Tallahassee that I go to once in awhile and they grow a lot of their own things and also have different growers than the ones up here where I live.
