I think these awards are absurd and a mockery of the courts and the legal profession. A substantial award should be made of course, but there needs to be something to induce a change in business community. A person within Bayer made a decision to sell, cover up, or somehow minimize the potential for this product to cause harm. That person, in addition to the Bayer entity must be held accountable. We had a situation here with a company named Tonawanda Coke that polluted the environment by discharging particulate matter into the atmosphere. They were warned and continued to do the exact same thing over and over. The person who authorized that should be locked up and have his assets forfeited instead of taking all the compensation from an insurance fund because we all have to contribute to those insurance funds. He did this deliberately and because of that he cannot be protected by the corporation.
