I disappear for a few weeks and it's like y'all are trying to turn this into a gardening board and not an Animal board.... Rescue #5 joined the farm - Pepper belonged to a family that let him run loose. All the time. And then they moved, and left him behind. A trip to Animal Control, a failed adoption, and now...Pepper lives with us. He is amazing - an Australian Cattle Dog. Smart, dominant, faster than a bullet. And small enough to sit in my lap without making me lose my breath! Pepper Pretty sure 5 dogs is officially a pack. From front to back: Pepper, Ollie, Zoe, Ansel and Charlie

Oh, Pepper is so cute! My horse riding trainer has an Australian Cattle Dog too. He has different coloration than Pepper but he has the same shape and small size.
His name is Lefty and one day she let him out to "herd" the horses as several of us were warming up and trotting around the arena. It was super cute to watch him chasing the horses and they paid absolutely no attention to him!

The farmer who owned the farm down the road...no house, just a farm.....had one of those "herding" dogs. Sometimes when coming home from work, I'd see him near the road. So, I'd slow down, to make sure he was safe. Then he would try to "herd" the car. It got to be a game. The farm was sold, the dog is gone, I don't go to work any more, and the man who bought the farm (he really did buy the farm...just didn't want you to think that he "bought the farm" ) raises those beautiful Red Angus cattle.

Okay we'll call it a cat if you want to but if it barks, chew shoes, and begs for Milkbones it's probably a dog. It looks like he's settling right in.
