I have been reading the threads for 12 years now.
Bindweed seems to be the worst for you guys out west.
Crabgrass makes me tired.
That mile a minute weed (down south) frightens me and it seems to be getting closer to me, but not here yet in my yard.
I don't mind a weed that I can pull and that's all she wrote, and it's gone................
But a weed that never seems to ever go away, no matter what you do.........................
Share pictures and report on those weeds that are relentless.................and what you are doing to eradicate them, and are your methods working.
Or just RANT on the weed you hate!
I hate CRABGRASS here the most. But many weeds CHAP MY BUTT!

That's mine right there....definitely crabgrass! It is everywhere...even in the wood chips I got from the tree taken down. In the garden I try to cover it with massive amounts of leaves and grass clippings; in the lawn.... I cut it. But I am trying to grow other grass like clover and rye and trying to drown out the crab. CUZ CRABGRASS MAKES ME CRABBY!

First I hate the chickweed and it's everywhere! but then it gets hotter and the chickweed gets overrun by the crabgrass but this year I have an explosion of purslane (which my neighbor calls rubber weed - never heard that before). I really have to work on that because if you break it, each section will grow a new plant. It is very hardy.

I don't mind weeds so much. I like to pull them. I eat purslane.

Unless you ate it 24 hrs/day, you probably couldn't keep mine under control!

Purslane, crab grass, chickweed, bindweed, creeping Charlie, thistles, you name I got it. They are all bad. The bindweed in the garden is mostly what I pull. All the others are in the "lawn" so I don't care, it just gets mowed and at least its green.

When we moved in we inherited a weedy lawn overgrown with hay, crab grass and quack grass. Ever since, the quack grass has been the bane of my existence. They can quickly take over and grow right up through an established plant, eventually killing them. My husband even tried an herbicide. It kills the leaves, but if you dig down the rhizomes are not affected. It can be hard to dig out all the rhizomes if they are growing through the roots of another plant without disturbing the plant. Right now I'm battling them from taking over my Japanese irises.

Unless you ate it 24 hrs/day, you probably couldn't keep mine under control! The first year we lived in this rented house, I gave up pulling it from the front flower beds. I just couldn't keep up. Once it filled in, I actually thought it made an attractive ground cover underneath my other plants. The next year, I got ahead of it and started eating it on salads. It does seem to grow overnight!

If I have to choose just one... bindweed, hands down. It is devil weed.

Quackgrass is the worst, hands down! ARGH! My open garden invites it. Purslane? I sow purslane every year because we love it, we harvest some, let it seed...doesn't come back. Sigh. Sow again. Repeat.

It is a toss up between bindweed and Canada thistle. At least quackgrass has roots near the surface. And the annuals are remedied with mulch.

Here it would be plantain and purslane. No creeping charlie in our yard thank goodness. Maybe I should start eating them both!

"Weeds" are just unloved plants. What we call "weeds" are all here for a reason and many have both food and/or medicinal value. For example, Dandelion leaves make a good a addition to salads, the flowers provide a good source of food for our bees and maybe some needed something to help combat CCD. I have not yet found anything that Crabgrass is good for, however.
