I’m going to pick some collard and mustard greens from the garden and cook those down with butter. Also going to mash some purple sweetpotatos with butter and bring them to my uncle’s house a few miles away.

I didn't have much left to do, here. I cut those brownies up, and took the container out to my car - I have absolutely no willpower with those things! I did eat 2 of the smallest, mis-figured ones (not that I needed an excuse) while cutting them, and I know I would have eaten more, had they still been in the kitchen.

I'm just starting my cooking. It's just the two of us, so it's not like I have to meet some kind of deadline. Just blanched the beans for the infamous "Green Bean Casserole", which of course I tweak with dry sherry & Shitake mushrooms. Then will move on to the other sides so that they're done before I put the turkey in the oven. They they'll just need reheating when the bird comes out to "rest".

Ours is today. Cornish hen for DH. Sides of baked white and sweet potatoes, oven roasted veggies with pecans and cranberries, veggie soup as appetizer, steamed broccoli and side salad. And of course deviled eggs, assorted olives and my dill pickles.

I really enjoyed the dinner made by my daughter in law and the atmosphere with just two of my kids families and me and my brother. It was my DIL's first turkey, as they usually go to her parents where her father is the chef. The food turned out wonderful and it was good not to have to put in any energy or do the clean-up. Just have good conversation, enjoy the grandkids and listen to my brother having fun, joyfully singing at the top of his lungs at the instigation of one of my sons.

Once again we were amazed at how absolutely fabulous our local organic free-range turkey was. We really enjoyed last year's, & made sure that we reserved this year's super early. The farm/farmer is just a couple of miles away from us, so this is truly "local". Pricey? Yes. But what a delicious bird!!! The leftovers have been just as wonderful as Thanksgiving Day - tender, flavorful, & juicy - & the stock I made from the carcass is sheer poetry - lol!!! I can't wait for "Turkey Noodle Soup" in the next day or two.

Everything here was good. Sister's provided the sweet potatoes, green beans, broccoli and desserts. Turkey was so good and moist. Made some really good Sangria with lots of fruit. We talked and sang and reminisced about our childhood.
