I need to finalize my seed orders and get the indoor starting setup, set up. The garden beds are snuggled in for a long winter's nap, with dreams of bounty dancing in their heads. Got a nice big pile of dry wood ash to shprinkle over them soon. DS transplanted one of his super-fine Premier blueberry bushes into the main grove yesterday, so yay!

I never got to finish Fall garden cleanup due to weather and my time . When I've had the time, it's snowing or really windy and cold. When the weather is nice I've had other things on the schedule. Besides that, December is my month for full on break from gardening. In a typical year I don't give the garden a thought until mid to end of January. when I start to have stirrings of wanting to get out there. I really need a complete break for those 6-8 weeks.

I never got to finish Fall garden cleanup due to weather and my time Same here. Need to spread hay over the beds and remove the tomato cages. I am bringing them in this winter one by one, cutting nice hand holes for harvesting without ripping up my shirt sleeves and hands and filing down any little pieces of metal left after cutting. Took a pause in this to await a flush cut wire cutter to cut down on the filing. I try to do a little every time it's not raining. When I go out to feed the chickens I take the shovel and run it across along the big coop door that was left open this summer. Then I can close it a few more inches. Hope to get it closed before the first snowfall. Almost there.

Garden goal for the next few months is cleaning off the garden beds that still need it and burning the large limbs and stumps left from getting the greenhouse spot ready. Also need to get stones from the wildflower garden moved so neighbor can shove the large maple log to the edge of the woods. He'd planned to come several months ago but had a heart attack and surgery since and we told him not to try and tackle it until he felt better. Need to dig out seed starting mix and supplies soon.

Adding dismantling a building and starting onion seed to my list. Also thinking about starting the geranium seed. Started it late last year and it did okay but thinking I can have more robust plants if I start it earlier, plus they should be up and repotted before I start tomatoes.

So with the planting of the onion seed, my year has officially started. Not so much goals, but ideas for now.
Possibly set up a small light stand in the utility room for growing brassica transplants. I think they might benefit from a cooler growing temperature.
Set up the old 2×3 wooden beds as nursery beds for last year's asparagus and the rhubarb I just planted.
