Anyone have experience with thyme in a hanging planter? Size of basket? Soil depth considerations? Thanks!

Hmmm - interesting. All of the thymes I've grown over the years have pretty much been upright types (English, French), although the lemons have been a little more prostrate. I think the basket size & the soil depth are less important than that the soil provides excellent drainage. I once grew a huge gold-variegated lemon thyme plant in a decorative ceramic fish planter that has a depth of 6" at the very most. I think what made it do so well was that even though the soil had lots of organic matter, it also drained well. Thyme loves & requires "Mediterranean" conditions, just like Rosemary.
