I just got a very large, old, Japanese storage vessel for my garden. A friend is moving out of state and simply could not take it. It originally belonged to his grandparents, who briefly dabbled in antiques. Unfortunately it was broken in the mid 1950's and repaired with older materials. But it still looks good even with the visible cracks that make it appear even more rustic. I put it next to my small pond with some rocks and plants, and the mountains in the background. I slightly sunk it in the soil a few inches for stability. Sorry, no photos. I did an internet search and was lucky to find the exact piece at an auction site. The same size, and the same markings, as close as handmade will allow. Of course mine has been broken and repaired so the value is simply not there. I will be doing further restorations to make sure it doesn't just fall apart in an earthquake.
