The Japanese beetles are here in force, though not quite as bad as some years. Mostly on the hazelnuts, beans, and grapevines. Been swiping those little ravenous buggers into a pail of soapy water everytime I go out.

The Japanese beetles are here in force I only get them for a few days. Chase them wth a butterfly net and feed them to the chickens.

Picked (and ate) the first plump green Serrano pepper. Fired me up all afternoon. Many more to come when they get ripe.

First daylily in bloom. Jolyene Nichole from a roadside market in South Carolina when first hubby and I visited in the the late 90s. Hubby kept cutting it off with the weed whacker and I finally moved it two years ago. Looks like it's going to put on quite a show this year.

First time planting corn by candlelight... well not exactly but sounds more romantic than saying planting corn by rechargeable LED trouble light.
