First Bumblebee. (Not to be confused with the Carpenter bees already out & about. . . .)

Haven't seen any Bumble bees here yet, or Carpenter bees either. Honey bees are busy though. Our beekeeper has a hive on our property and on the property next door. He's thinking of moving that one though. Too much activity over there with all the motorized toys buzzing around.

Honey bees are busy though. I've been sadly surprised by no Honeybees here yet, & few to none last years. Normally when our Star magnolia blooms in February/March, the tree is covered with them. Not. a. one. this year. And ditto on our "Louisa" weeping crabapple. Again - none so far; just the one small lone Bumblebee.

breezygardener, that's too bad. Have you ever thought of contacting a beekeeper in the area to see if they would want to set up a hive on your property? That's what we did, and as a bonus, our property got rezoned as working AG, which gave us a tax break. We don't do anything with the hives. He comes out and maintains them, we watch.

First night with the windows open. Woke up and it was 74° in the house. Now listening to a nature serenade of owls, frogs and coyotes.

First male Redwing blackbird, first Mayapples, & always-looked-forward-to-bloom of one lone "Queen of the Night" tulip planted here more than 30 years ago by the original owner/builder of our home.

First June bug, a few days ago. And one dead one in the living room. I think he killed himself by too much banging on the lamp shade.

I "saw" my first no see 'em bug (and probably bruised my leg squashing it). Tomorrow, when I plant the tomatoes, I'll have to put some of that repellent on, after the sunblock, at least on my legs, since that's where they always are. Haven't seen the first mosquito yet, KOW, but they will be soon, after this heat. Probably tomorrow.
